| 07/04/2008 | mem | Fourth | We went out to Andy's house for a few hours today, and then made it to Lowell just in time to watch fireworks from the Rourke bridge (couldn't get any closer due to roads being shut down). We had to share the bridge with a ton of spiders everywhere that were a bit scary. All the pics can be found under FourthOfJuly2008. Most are a bit blurred (night shot, shaky bridge, kid on shoulders, etc...). | |
| 07/03/2008 | mem | Adventure | We went on an adventure today via train, subway, and boat out to Georges Island - one of the harbor islands. All the pictures can be found in TrainsBoatsIslandFort. I highly recommend the video clip of the ferry ride back. It's a bit big (and you have to download - sorry, no streaming), but it's well worth it. Moments after Charlie's snow-cone literally flew up and disintegrated in the wind... | |
| 07/01/2008 | mem | Family | The second stop on our roadtrip to visit family in the Berkshires was the Utz Family. Dave was nice enough to build some boats for the kids and we played outside for a while until the thunder started. Then we spent the next few hours visiting while Zara ran back and forth to the bathroom puking. We aborted our last stop (dinner with Nancy at the Hakilau (a.k.a. Luau Hale these days). In the end, Zara threw up at least a dozen times and she got to be quite a pro. The weather and driving were atrocious, so we didn't even get a chance to pull over after a while. | |
| 07/01/2008 | mem | Family | We went on a roadtrip to visit family out in the Berkshires today. First on the list was Grandma Peggy in Great Barrington. We had a great visit and the only casualty was an extending backscratcher the kids fought over who got to play with it. It was nice to see Peggy, and to hear the kids shouting "Bye Grandma Peggy" as we drove away. Not so nice was the sound of Zara puking shortly after on the highway. It was the start of a long stretch of puking... | |

It was rather interesting - mainly to see all the costumes of the attendees. When we got home, the kids decided to try out some jousting with their trusty steed Uncle Rob.

| 08/11/2005 | mem | Baby! | Please welcome the latest baby Masino! Charlie Edward Masino was brought into this world by his loving mother Zoe (with some assistance from Dr Nada Samaha and staff) on 08/11/2005 at 4:15PM. He weighed in at 7 lbs, 11 ozs and was 19.5 inches long. Mum and baby are both doing well. You can look at some pictures here. | |

| 08/08/2004 | mem | Septic Tank | Not that a lot of people really care, but it that time again - to pump out the septic tank. This time I didn't have to dig 42 inches down since last time we had a riser put in. Of course, I couldn't remember where the manhole was (although now in winter it is a hot spot where it wasn't before). In any case, a couple of photos. At the very least, they might help me find it next year... | |

| 06/20/2004 | mem | Dad | My Dad died today, June 20th 2004 - Fathers Day. It has taken me a while to add an entry, as it still does not seem real. After being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer only 10 days before, it seems unthinkable that he passed so quickly. As my sister Nancy said, I've never been more proud of how brave he was when faced with the inevitable. His primary concern, to the last, was that we would be ok. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really not yet ok - but we're working on it.
Thank you to everyone who helped and gave their love and support. I apologize for not being more specific in thanking people, but I fear I will inevitable forget people who equally deserve thanks. This is just the list which came to mind as I sit here typing.
| 05/27/2004 | zoe | New Member | So we added a new member to our family today and I didn't have to give birth to it bonus!!! We got a Labradoodle puppy! For those not familiar with the breed they are a poodle/lab cross. They have the temperament of a lab and the coat of a poodle so they don't shed! We got our's from Tegan Park a breeder and research facility in Australia. And why Australia I hear you ask, they have been breeding them the longest and the best track record for non shedding puppies, they were also a lot cheaper than getting a puppy from CT!! So she arrived at Boston airport at 6:15am this morning and our friend Jen came with me to get her (thanks Jen for getting out of bed that early). She is adorable and has been a joy since I got her out of her travel crate at the airport. You know me all or nothing so I had playgroup at the house today, 6 kids under 3 and she did GREAT! Her name is Popsy it was Zara's choice! She is a miniature so will grow to about 25-30lbs and about 12-14" so really not to big. She is red in colour and is just the best! And of course what you have been waiting for pictures! IntroducingTegan Park's Bravo Popsy Doodle! | |
| 05/24/2004 | zoe | Updates | Thought I would throw up the latest pictures and of course before, during and after photos of our new deck!!! We took the plunge and had a 12'x20' deck built! We used Trex which is a composite material instead of pressure treated for the floor, stairs and top rail of the deck in a dark brown. We are very happy with how it came out. The builders were Jon and Al and they made a great job of it (if you need any jobs doing I would be more than happy to give you their number)! There are also updated photos of the girls. Tessie had another big girl haircut so she is looking even more cute! | 04/30/2004 | zoe | Photos | Hmmm what news do we have to share, not to much still happy that Scrappy returned to us - mind you he has been very eager to come in every night!! We are in the process of getting a deck built, at the planning office stage right now diagrams drawn just need the approval, I know it won't happen overnight but one can hope! The girls are doing great, they are loving the warmer weather and having fun outside on the swingset. It's also wonderful to have the yard fenced in it really makes a huge difference with safety and piece of mind. Tessie does have yet another cold poor old thing she seems to get one after another hoping it's a quickie one.
So I bet your looking for pictures - here they are:

| 04/15/2004 | zoe | Accidents | Imagine my surprise when I go to get Tessie out of her crib today and find her covered in blood! Well after the initial shock I figured out she had had a nose bleed, then I started to laugh because it looked just like she had whiskers! Here are some photos. | |
| 04/11/2004 | zoe | Easter | Well the 4th Annual Easter Hunt was the best to date! I think I speak for everyone when I say much fun was had. Thanks everyone who came for making it so much fun! Special thanks to John for helping Mike hide the eggs, and to Kay who cleaned up! Of course there are a couple photos to look at! Set one here Set two here | |
| 04/8/2004 | zoe | Strange | So now I have wonderful news to share - Scrappy came home!!! Mike looked out this morning when getting ready for work and he was walking in the back yard. He is really skinny, I weighed him and we think he is just under 10lbs normally he is around 17lbs. He also smells a little like lawnmower so I really think he has been shut in somewhere. Oh what a wonderful day it is! He hasn't left my side at all and that's fine with me! I called the vet they thought he was a pretty special cat to last that long, we also think he may have used 8.5 of his lives!! Welcome home scrappy! | |
| 04/07/2004 | mem | Scrappy | Scrappy must have read the website, because yesterday morning he came back. That's right, I looked out the window before heading off to work and saw him walking along the fence outside the backyard. He's a little bit skinnier than he was when last we saw him, but otherwise seems in good health. Welcome back Scrappy! | |
| 04/04/2004 | zoe | Update | Well it is with sadness that I write this, we have lost Scrappy Doo our little grey cat. We haven't seen him for 5 weeks now, so I think it's time to believe that he really isn't coming home. We have hunted for him around here, I don't think for one moment he would have gone with anyone else he was to afraid of people, we have also asked around and no-one else has seen him recently. We do have coyotes and a big bird of prey wandering the neighborhood so that seems to be the most likely cause of his demise. I can actually live with that rather than being hit by something. Although gone we will never forget him. Now to cheer us up I am uploading some new pictures of the girls. | 01/25/2004 | zoe | Update | Oh where to begin! With this lovely weather came the usual winter sickness, Zara started it with a double ear infection, Tessie was soon to follow but she managed to get some kind of bronchial infection as well and ended up having to take Augmentum, then Zara moved on to just a single ear infection, and not to be left out I had a single ear infection - and this was in the course of a about 4 weeks! Hopefully we are all on the road to recovery now! Mum and Dad came to visit and yes you guessed it they spent pretty much the full 3 1/2 weeks with some kind of illness! Dad did finish the bathroom for us and it looks great! Mike and I also managed to get away for a night which was wonderful! Okay and I know you want the photos - here are a few to view!

| 12/14/2003 | zoe | Milestones | Happy 1 year anniversary to Amy and Steve have a wonderful day! | |
| 12/14/2003 | zoe | Family | It is 3 years today that Linda Mike's Mum died. Time goes by so quickly but there are not to many days that I don't think of her and wonder what she would have thought of her Grandaughters. | |
| 12/09/2003 | zoe | Update | Okay so you have all made me feel so guilty I had to download all the photos and put them online (all 200 of them, okay not all of them made it to the web site so don't panic). We have a wonderful thanksgiving in CT with Sue, Dave, Katie and Nancy. The girls played so nicely together we can't wait to be there for Christmas. Tessie has had some milestones, She is now walking and has been for about a week now. It is pretty funny to watch her knees don't bend so she kind of staggers but is very proud of herself! Zara is doing great, she does "nastics" (gymnastics to you and I) once a week and loves it. She is talking up a storm. We are potty training and she is doing a great job of that as well, with help from chocolate buttons!
And of course the big news Tessie turned 1!!!! Okay now onto the photos: Zara Month 26.5 Pictures Zara Month 27 Pictures Tessie Week 48 Pictures Tessie Week 49 Pictures Tessie's First B'Day Pictures House Ready For Christmas Pictures

| 11/09/2003 | zoe | Update (at last) | Where is everyone I hear you saying, I know many have called out the troops but I promise we are still around and here is our story. My sad computer actually bit the dust for good about 2 weeks ago along with all the latest past 2 months worth of photo's (oh know I hear you gasp). So Mike has tried all the tips and tricks to get the hard drive with the pictures on to come back to life but no can do, it's off to data recovery (and quite a sum of money as well)! So not a big deal we are the house of computers after all, so I started using Zara's machine and as I needed to get my mail Mike just set me up with outlook quickly - and the rest to most is history I got numerous virus within hours of using outlook (no I didn't open anything outlook kindly did that for me which is why I always use eudora). Anyways many frustrating hours/days later I have a brand new spanking machine and a cd writer on the way so that I can back up the photos once a week! Anyway here a few photos from Halloween and the girls enjoy! Halloween 2003 Pictures Zara Month 26 Pictures Tessie Week 47 Pictures The Girls Pictures | |
| 11/05/2003 | mem | website | Ack! It turns out that I set everything up on the new gateway except port 80! I usually have my homepage at work set to home so that every morning it loads and confirms things are working, but for a while I had it set to a different page. Then I tried to get to it and couldn't (except on port 8080). Sorry about that! Please, if you can't get to the page on a particular day, send us an email. We'd appreciate the info. And for those who worried the server crashed, it hasn't and it's now been up 412 days! | |
| 10/14/2003 | mem | Linksys | So you thought it was all over when I traded in the 5th Linksys Broadband Router for an SMC Barricade. But somehow the curse has continued and the SMC is now not working well at all. Read on at the top of the Linksys Saga. NOTE: The latest news it at the top, the first mention at the bottom. | |
| 09/30/2003 | zoe | Updates | So many things so many photos! We went to Pittsfield on Saturday to celebrate Mike's Dad's 78th B'Day, we went to the Brewery in Great Barrington - 7 adults and 3 kids and it was soooo much fun! Katie and Zara shared some pasta and their little faces at the end were shining from all the butter! Katie had her 2nd B'Day party on Sunday, it was so wonderful to see Katie and Zara playing together, they were never apart it was so nice. I also have a whole bunch of photos that I have taken over the last couple of weeks of the girls - so without further ado here they are:

| 09/22/2003 | mem | server | It's been months since I've actually posted something, but I happened to check the other day and thought it was worth noting that this little server has been up for over a year now. Thanks to the UPS that Rob gave me for my birthday a while back, Mitre for auctioning off old equipment (even if I did have to swap a power supply from one of the other machines) and the open source community for providing the quality software to keep things going... 10:45pm up 369 days, 1:29, 1 user, load average: 0.01, 0.02, 0.00 | |
| 09/22/2003 | zoe | Celebrations | We had a wonderful wonderful weekend. We spent Friday night, Saturday and and Sunday morning with Nancy. And if you ask Zara the best thing about the weekend she will tell you the Cows at Aunty Ancy's! On Sundy we attended Ali's wedding and had a wonderful time. We got to see so many people we hadn't seen for a long time, the most exciting was to see the Nathan's. I lived and looked after Melissa and Andrea, they were also my brides maids - they are grown up now. There are of course some photos of the day. I also took a roll of film with my big camera so will put them online when I get it developed. Here are the pics . | |
| 09/12/2003 | zoe | Outing | We had a wonderful day today at Davis Farmland, Jill and I had gone last year when it was just Stanley and Zara. We actually met Vicky and the kids, Jill, Stanley and Theo, and also Carol and Sarah. It was such a sunny warm day the kids were able to play in the water, mind I think it would have been -20 and they would have still gone in!!! Of course a lot of fun was had feeding the animals and also on the hay ride. And naturally there are some pics of the event. | |
| 09/09/2003 | zoe | Parties | Well Zara is now 2 and I really can't believe how quickly that 2 years has flown by. We had her party on Sunday, it was a great day so we had the whole thing outside and took advantage of our new Playset and the bouncey castle! Of course there are a couple of pics of the day! | 09/03/2003 | zoe | Photos | At last I hear you say new photos!!! Fear not I have been taking them but just haven't had time to take them off the camera and put thme up here. We have been enjoying the end of the summer and have been out and about. Lots have things have happened since I last updated the site. Tess is doing all kinds of things, she only eats grown up food, no baby food, she crawls everywhere and has started pulling herself up on everything - so I think it won't be long before she decides to walk ekkk! The girls have started really playing together, where one is you usually find the other a couple of feet away! Zara has been really good about sharing with Tess, we have tried to instill that if you take a toy away from Tessie you have to give her one in it's place and she really does do that. Zara is just such a big girl, she says all kinds of things, she is also really using the toilet when we are home which is wonderful for me! We are getting ready to celebrate Zara's b'day which is both exciting and sad to think that 2 years has gone so quickly, it seems like only yesterday I was giving birth. We have been busy in the garden, we have a new fence (or at least will do by the end of today) we have a wonderful swing set thanks to Mike who put it together himself over this last weekend, and just general clean up. We did take the pool down as the water wasn't heating up at all and at 65 it was just a little to chilly to swim in! And in case you have been waiting here are the photos from the last month or so! | 08/03/2003 | zoe | Sickness | Well we were hit by a stomach bug this week, Tessie had it for a week, Zara for 2 days and Mike and I just 24hrs. Poor old Tessie was the worst hit but certainly seems on the road to recovery now. Tessie went into the pool for the first time this week and loved it, she splashed around just like a fish! Zara has become a fish she swims all over the place (still with a floatie on). There are also some pictures of Sue and Katie's visit on the way to their new home in Connecticut. It was so much fun having them here and so great to see the girls together Tessie Week 33 Pictures Zara Month 22.5 Pictures Zara Month 22.75 Pictures Zara and Katie Pictures | |
| 07/29/2003 | zoe | Old Pics | When I was home I was going through the old photos and Mum asked if I could do anything with the really old ones as a lot had faded. I scanned them in and tried to touch them up a bit, I am sure it can be done better but at least we have a copy of them now! Here they are if your interested in Liam and I when we were little. | |
| 07/18/2003 | zoe | After | And here are some pictures of the now treeless side of the garden. I know that when the fence goes in it will be better but right now it just seems so open! Here are the pics . | |
| 07/16/2003 | zoe | Not sure if it is a happy or sad day but today they are cutting down 15 trees, some oaks some pines. It is sad as they probably took a long time to grow and they do give us not only privacy but also shade. The good side is that now they trees are gone we can go ahead and schedule the fence to be installed. It's so so hard to imagine what it will be like when they are all gone. Of course I took some before pictures this morning and have been snapping away while they are here, some of the trees they have had to climb to chop down. It's actually amazing how quick these guys are you wouldn't even know there had been trees there, they pull them down chip them, grind the stump and onto the next. I am pretty sure they will be finished by the end of the day. Here are the pictures so far, will add the after when they are finished! | ||
| 07/08/2003 | zoe | Holiday | Well another 4th of July come and gone. This year was nice for us we went back to Pittsfield (thanks to the Galts for letting us use their house for the weekend) to visit with Grampa Charlie and Aunty Rosemary. We took the girls to the parade on the 4th, Zara waved to all the floats and Tessie sat on Mike's lap and squeeled at everything in delight, she also managed to fall asleep during the middle of it in the stroller, not even the marching bands woke her up! We spent Saturday with Rosemary, Amy and the boys which was a lot of fun.
Here are the photos: July 4th Lenox
| 07/02/2003 | zoe | New Arrival | WELCOME to the the world Theo Crenshaw! And a big congrats to Jill, Scott and Stanley. Theo entered the world on Monday afternoon at 2:04pm weighing in at a little over 7lbs. I went to visit Jill and Theo last night and both are doing great! Here are some pics for you to enjoy. | |
| 06/27/2003 | zoe | Where does time go??! We have been a little busy since we got back from England, and now that summer seems to be here at last I am sure we will only get busier! There are a few sets of new photos for both the girls. We also had a visit this week from our friend Amy from California, it was great to see her and Zara loved that she brought her dog Jasper with her! So as always grab a coffee and talk a browse through the pictures! Tessa Week 26 pictures Tessa Week 27 pictures Tessa Week 28 pictures Zara Month 21 pictures Amy's Visit with Jasper pictures | ||
| 06/07/2003 | zoe | Back in the USA | We're home!!! We had a wonderful almost 5 weeks in Enlgand with Mum, Dad, GG (Great Granny), Uncle Mike and the rest of the family. Because I was there for a good amount of time I was also able to catch up with some friends which was really nice. The weather was good, we did have a few rainy days (hey it wouldn't be England without some rain), but not really enough to stop us going out, that and I got a rain cover for the stroller!! I got to go to see my Granny twice while there which was great, I thought I was going to be able to go by train but when it came time to go I whimped out and rented a car - can you imagine 2 children, a double stroller, 2 car seats, a huge bag of stuff and me on the train on my own! Mike got there safely on the 23rd and we ment him from the train, Zara was so funny she was so mad at him for the first hour that he was here she wouldn't look at him even when he took her and carried her for 40mins! We go to see my Aunty Sue and her family which was great and they got to meet Tess and see Zara. We also go to see my Aunty Nina at the same time. Of course I took a couple of pictures both digital and regular - actually it was the first set of real pictures of Tess up till now they have ALL been digital there's a sign of the times. Here they are:

| 05/14/2003 | mem | bathroom | The cavalry has arrived. After performing a bit of plumbing myself, I chickened out and called a plumber. I was a bit paranoid my soldering wasn't going to hold. The guys claim that the joins were all good and would have held, but they managed to install the new show valve, move a sink shutoff, install the drain, replace the toilet shutoff and make it all look professional and get it done in a couple hours. I can now sleep at night not dreaming about the house filling with water. Also here to the rescue is Nancy. I was talking to her last night and she offeredd to come and help put up the walls. I couldn't resist, so we're off to Home Depot as soon as the plumbing is all set to get supplies and get to work. | |
| 05/04/2003 | mem | James | Happy Birthday James (and Zoe). Ok, technically a few days late, but I wanted to apologize for missing James' birthday party. I was planning on attending, but then got nervous about getting off schedule for the bathroom remodeling. Knowing how much I got done working all day yesterday, it was probably a wise move if I want to keep to my goal of getting the new bathtub in next Saturday. I hope James had a great time. We'll see him when we get back from England to wish him a Happy Belated Birthday in person... Oh, and I would add my birthday wishes to the posting on Pecknet, but I can never remember my password (or what email I used, either). Guess I should just re-register. | |
| 05/03/2003 | mem | bathroom | The destruction has commenced. Figured I'd get started early so I could get something accomplished and clean up before Rob came over. It's too easy to just wait and fiddle for a couple hours and not get anything accomplished. I got started about 8:30 AM and took out the wall behind the sink and the window side. Only the bottom half - where the tile is. Kind of messy - not as much dust as I thought but lots of powdered tiles. Also very easy to cut yourself. I suddenly noticed I had blood all over the place and found I had six or seven nicks (and a couple gashes) from ripping wall out. Nothing too serious, but of course once you notice a cut it immediately starts to hurt - even if it's half an hour old. Now I'm just waiting for Rob (it's about 10:00 P.M. ) to go off and get the tub and other miscellaneous stuff... | |
| 05/03/2003 | mem | bathroom | Well, last night I got back around 10:00 P.M. and decided that I should really get started on the bathroom. Rob was coming over in the morning, but I primarily wanted his help getting the new bathtub and getting the old one out. So I figured I could do some minor work and still shower if I didn't touch the tub area. In the end, I took out the vanity and the toilet (both very easy) and got ready for some destruction in the morning. I got to bed at a reasonable 12:30 after cleaning up. Zoe has the digital camera, but Nancy had returned our old Polaroid camera with some film left so I took about 6 shots. They will follow at the end or when I get some time to scan them... | |
| 05/02/2003 | mem | family | Well, Sue was in town last night (on her way to a conference and house hunting) and Nancy finished her job, so we all went out on the town. We had a birthday dinner for Zoe (in absentia of course since she's in England) at the Top of the Hub - the restaurant at the top of the Prudential Building. What a great view. The food and service (a waiter doused me with an entire glass of champagne and they didn't do anything but apologize and get me a new chair) were not that thrilling, but it was something different. Then Nancy and Sue headed off and I came home and began working on the bathroom (see next post). | |
| 04/26/2003 | zoe | vacation | It's been a whirlwind week. Tuesday I booked tickets for England, we are flying May 1st and will be there till June 2nd! I thought I had 2wks but I guess May 1st is really next week AHHHHH! We also went to visit Maria and the triplets this week, and Wendy and Owen came too! It was amazing to see how big Irene, Ian and Zoe are and wonderful to meet baby Owen - of course there are a couple of pics ! There are also pictures of the girls from this week: Tessa 19 Week pictures Zara 19.75 Month pictures | |
| 04/21/2003 | zoe | Fun | The 3rd Annual Masino Easter Egg Hunt and Brunch was yesterday and what a great day! The sun was out and it was warm, and after our weather this winter we could have had 6" of snow! It was nice that Zara was able to hunt for the eggs (with a little help) this year, she had great fun finding them and putting them in her basket. Mike did a great job as usual of hiding the eggs. In case your interested here are the pics. | |
| 04/17/2003 | zoe | Weekly Update | So I thought I would really try hard to put new photos up every week so here are this weeks. We had some really ncie weather this week, temps reaching 80 on Wednesday and Thursday which was great as my Mums group had an egg hunt for the kids, Zara got to take her little red wagon with nice Easter ribbons on it! We also got Zara her own chair so that she can hang out with us in the evening, Tessa actually got to sit in it first, we just didn't tell Zara! Here are the pics:

| 04/17/2003 | zoe | For Dad | Every time Dad comes over he marvels over the backwards Cement Trucks here - they are back to front. So when Mike came home the other day and spied one down the road of course he had to go take some photos. So for those other than Dad that interested in photos of a cement mixer feel free to look , but I have a feeling there won't be to many hits to the page! | |
| 04/11/2003 | zoe | Photos | Update on the girls Tess has now started to grab for things (including my hair and glasses!), she also rolls from her tummy to her back and is close to rolling from back to tummy. She babbles all the time, in fact a lot more verbal than Zara was at her age. We also pulled out the exersaucer from the basement and Tess loves it, she squeels at the things around the outside. Zara is so sweet with Tess (apart from the little biting episode yesterday), she is very motherly as you will see in her photos, her latest love is to feed Tessa!

| 03/31/2003 | zoe | We went to the Mall yesterday and the Easter Bunny was there and unlike Father Christmas Zara thought she might like to go and see him and have her photo taken. Well of course when it came to our turn she hesitated a little, I put Tessa on the Bunny's lap and that was it Zara climbed right up there with her!! Here is the picture . | ||
| 03/29/2003 | zoe | Photos | There are a couple of new photos for your viewing pleasure! Zara'a are here and Tessa's are here . | |
| 03/23/2003 | zoe | Pictures | Got a couple of pics to share with you all this week. Zara has decided that she might like a pacifier (known as a LooLoo in our house), she would never take one as a baby oh we tried, in fact the large plastic container full of 20 different brands show how we tried! Tessa has always liked her LooLoo not all the time but when really sad. Zara was funny at first she would try and take it out of Tessa mouth now she tries to put it in when Tessa cries which is very sweet. Well on Wednesday she was chewing on one of the LooLoos and I told her you don't chew on them you suck them - DOH big mistake Mum! So now when she gets a chance she sneaks one and sucks it??!!! Today she was sat on the couch with one in her mouth and trying to put one in Ellie's mouth (her beloved Elephant) really pretty funny! She is good at giving the LooLoo up when you ask who it belongs to. Here are the pics. There are also some cute ones of her playing in the sink with bubbles. Of course no picture update would be complete without ones of Tessa so here they are - enjoy! | |
| 03/23/2003 | zoe | New Baby | I went to Visit Vicky and baby Gregory on friday night and of course took a couple of pictures!! You can find them here . | |
| 03/20/2003 | zoe | Babies | We would like to say a big CONGRATS to Vicky, Bill, Madeline and James on the arrival of their new baby - as yet to be named. He arrived Thursday, March 20th at 6:52pm weighing in at 8lbs13oz and 22" long. Both Mummy and Baby are doing great! | |
| 03/13/2003 | zoe | Photos | So soon I hear you say! Yes another post from me 24hrs after the last one! We took some pictures tonight of both girls, I was messing around with the black and white again and thought I would share with you all. Zara and Tessa . | |
| 03/12/2003 | zoe | As is the norm around here these days I have a whole host of things to catch up on! Tessa - well poor tooey has been sick we took her to the Dr's on Friday with a temp of 101.4 by the time we got to the Dr it was 102something ekkk! So they did a whole host of tests including an Xray which I wish I had my camera for - they have a piece of what looks like see through drain tube and a tiny bike seat, they sit the baby on the seat put their hands above their heads and close the tubing so that they are upright, they let me stay and hold her hands (with a lead jacket just in case we want to give these girls a brother) and the funny thing was she almost fell asleep! Non of the test came back with anything so we were back in the office on Saturday morning for them to check her again, all was normal just high temp the fever finally broke on Sunday night. Sadly with the fever went my great sleeper, okay so I have been spoilt she is now only sleeping 7hrs I know I know I am very lucky she is doing this but it's a shock to my body when she has been sleeping 10hrs! Here are the latest pics of Tessa Week 11 (there are some pretty funny ones, I put Tess in Zara's dolls car seat so it looks like she has already outgrown her infant car seat) and Week 12 . Zara - big news for Zara yes she does have some more teeth however non seem to be coming on the bottom?? Zara as of Sunday night is in a big girl bed, no more crib for her. She has done great so far with both naps and nighttime, the sad thing is one of us usually reads her a story well we have both now fallen asleep in her bed reading to her! No more lying down for story time for us! Here are the latest pics of Zara . Us news no real big news, I have hopefully found a mothers helper she is a high school student who will come in a couple of afternoons a week which will be great. This way I can at least run errands and clean the house without any "help"! We are just hoping and keeping our fingers crossed that Spring is on the way, with a total snow fall this winter of about 81"+ we are ready for some sun and grass!! We had a storm last week and you know it's been a bad winter when you call your husband and say "oh it's only going to be 6"!!!! Oh we did go out for Mike's B'day on our own thanks to Nancy (thanks Nance) we went to the Emerald Rose and had a really nice grown-up evening | ||
| 03/02/2003 | zoe | Event | Happy B'day Daddy!!! Happy B'day Mike! Oh to be 29 again - make the most of it next year we will be in the same decade again!! Love always SB. | |
| 02/22/2003 | zoe | Photos | Since Mike made the changes with the router I haven't been able to update the front page - turns out it was an internet explorer issue where I had to add a / to the end of the URL - who knew!! So that's my excuse of why there are not current links to photos, although the photos have been up here! Last weekend we went to Lenox to see everyone, also for Charlie to finally meet his newest Granddaughter - it only took 10wks, it would have been sooner if it hadn't been for all this crazy weather! Tessa is doing great, she grows so much every day and is now so so alert. The biggest thing for us is that she really is sleeping through the night with an average of 8hrs so we are happy campers with all that sleep! Sadly right now both the girls have colds and are sneezing and coughing, Mike thinks he might have escaped it, not sure about me I feel like it might be starting but I am willing it away! Mike got a monitor cheap at the mitre auction last year which he has set up with a computer in the study for Zara, she is thrilled with it, she has her own keyboard and mouse and better yet head phones! The computer itself actually acts as a chair for her as well, there are pictures under 17.5months. Okay I think that's about all we have been up to and hopefully now I can update more often. Here are the pictures: Zara - 17 Months with picuters from Lenox and Pittsfield, Grandpa let her play with the electric chair! Zara - 17.5 Months with Pictures of her new computer! Tessa - 10 Weeks Nice one of Zara hugging Tessa | |
| 02/10/2003 | zoe | Kids | I have been such a slacker again!!! There have been new pictures up but I haven't put links on the front page so here are the links: Zara 16.5months (couple of nice black and white ones and also one of her with her "pony" tail! Tessa week 7 some cute ones of her looking at Zara Tessa Week 9 a very sweet one of her sucking her thumb, which she does pretty a lot now you hear her slurping and sure enough the little thumb is in the mouth! Can't promise I will be any better at updating but I will try! | |
| 01/25/2003 | mem | linksys | Well, the Linksys saga is now at and end. Last week Zoe called me at work to troubleshoot network problems (i.e. not being able to get anywhere). After the usual steps (ping an IP to see if DNS is broken, ping the server in the house to see if it responds, etc.) she went into the basement where the Linksys had but a single light on - the bright, red "Diag" light. Hmm, normally that goes on when you power it on and then off when things are well. If you recall from the last installment, it was already toast as a router, and we were just using it as an 8 port switch. Well, now it's just a paperweight... You can read about how things stand now and the whole sordid story (of 5 replacement routers and other fun stuff) here. It's pretty funny, actually. NOTE: start at the bottom to read from the beginning. | |
| 01/24/2003 | zoe | Milestones | The time has come for us to start thinking about potty training Zara although she actually has other ideas, she feels that all her animals need to be trained first - she brings them to the potty and sits them on it! Mike got some great pictures of Zara with her potty the other day here they are enjoy . Also a couple of pictures from our playgroup this week, one of Zara's friends Cara doesn't have stairs in their house so she thought ours were wonderful!!! | |
| 01/24/2003 | zoe | Family | Well they say the 2nd child never has the same amount of photo's taken and I am afraid it's true poor Tessa is already a good couple of weeks behind Zara with photos. Here are a couple that were taken this week of Tessa . | |
| 01/24/2003 | zoe | B'days | It was Ms Madelines B'day on Tuesday and she had a party on Sunday that Zara and Tessa were invited to. Zara was pretty much a wall flower and Tessa spent a lot of time hanging or I should say sleeping with Vicky's brother Dom! Madeline had a lot of fun and the hit was the pinata not pun intended. Here are some pictures. | |
| 01/14/2003 | zoe | Tessa | I should also do an update on Tessa, who said a second child doesn't get as much spot light!!! We had her 1 month check up last week and she is weighing in at a whopping 8lbs14oz, doesn't seem big but when you think Zara at 16months only checked in at 19lbs12oz Tessa I think is going to be a lot bigger. Over the last week she has started to become more alert and stays awake longer during the day, mind you she doesn't seem to be sleeping more at night, hmmmm! Here are some new pictures of her, I really love the one of her sucking her thumb. | |
| 01/14/2003 | zoe | Family | Well it has been some number of weeks that I have been slacking, actually my excuse has been not only having a new baby but also having Mum and Dad staying! They arrived boxing day (for the Americans in the crowd that's the day after Christmas day), after a long long day they finally got on a flight at 6pm and arrived here at 9pm, their original flight was cancelled because of the snow we had Christmas day. The up side of them having to wait 12hrs at heathrow and getting in 9hrs later into Boston was that they got upgraded to business class free!! So as you can imagine there were a couple of pictures taken while they were here, and they are as follows: Pictures Round 1 Pictures Round 2 Pictures Round 3 | |
| 12/26/2002 | zoe | Tessa | This is a picture taken of Tessa on christmas eve, it had been a hard day for her!! | |
| 12/25/2002 | zoe | Family | Forgive me if there are any mistakes in this message I am holding Tessa at the same time, she likes that personal touch!! Here are some photos from today, Sue, Katie and Nancy have been staying with us since Monday which has been so much fun!! | |
| 12/22/2002 | zoe | Decorating | We spent the evening at last putting the christmas tree up, we had had it in the basement for 10 days. Mike and Zara went to get it, Mike tried to get her to say tree the whole day but of course she didn't, then as soon as they got to the place to get the tree she pointed to this one and said "tree" so that's the one we got and what a great choice she made!! Mike found a set of broken lights that he gave to Zara while he was putting the lights on the tree, she insisted on putting her set at the bottom of the tree. Here are some photo's , oh yes she also thought it was pretty clever to keep climbing up and down the step ladder Mike was using. | |
| 12/20/2002 | zoe | Photos | I put up some new photo's, there is actually a couple of Tessa's eyes - yes she does have some!!! Mike also found a big bag of Jax cheese puffs at the grocery store, if you don't remember here is a link to Zara next to the Jax bag at 2 weeks old, but that was only an 18oz bag, Tessa is beside a 48oz bag!! There are also 2 pictures of Zara flossing, although with 3 teeth still I think it is mostly just wishful thinking!!! | |
| 12/16/2002 | zoe | Photos | Couple new pics of both Zara and Tessa. We had some more snow today, when Mike got home Zara put on her snowsuite and boots and helped Dad shovel, she uses the small shovel from the car and actually does a really good job of moving the snow! There are some pictures of her in the snow suit - no she hasn't really gained that much weight the snow suit is just puffy!! Couple of pictures of Tessa , she doesn't just sleep although that's what it looks like from the photo's!! | |
| 12/11/2002 | zoe | Family | And we are home!!! The trip yesterday was uneventful, Zara was great she kept holding Tessa's hand the whole way and Tessa slept the whole way! Zara has so far been nothing but a model big sister which is making having a new baby in the house a lot easier. Tessa seems to have settled right in, of course we all know that that can change in an instant with a new baby so we are enjoying it while we can. Of course we did take some pictures of getting ready to leave the hospital and a couple when we got home that can be found here . | |
| 12/09/2002 | mem | Tess | More pictures have been added (they have been mingled in with the previous pictures since there weren't that many to begin with). Five pictures added and the previous picture of Tess on the front page has been changed. They were taken this afternoon. Tomorrow Zoe and Tess come home. I think Zara might be in for a rude awakening. She was absolutely great at the hospital, but I don't think she knew what she was in for - that the baby was ours to keep... | |
| 12/08/2002 | mem | Tessa | At 2:55AM this morning, Tessa Elizabeth Masino was brought into this world by her loving mother Zoe. She weighed 7 lbs, 4 ozs and measured 19.25 inches long at birth. She has quite a bit of dark hair and is healthy and happy. It was quite a fast and furious birth ( 2.5 hours of active labor and 6 minutes of pushing) but all went well and we didn't get arrested for any moving violations getting to the hospital in record time while Zoe's contractions were 2 minutes apart. Mom and baby are doing great. You can sneak a peek at some first photos here. More to follow, you can be sure. | |
| 11/27/2002 | zoe | Swimming | I went with Mike and Zara to her swim class tonight to take some pictures. There are some that are a little cloudy due to the fact it was so hot the lense kept fogging up. As you can see she hates the water!! | |
| 11/27/2002 | zoe | Winter | We had our first big snow storm today, it dumped about 6" which was fun for Zara! She loved watching it fall, I kept asking her where the snow was and she would look out of the window. We decided to help Dad out and shovel the drive this afternoon, Zara was a great help cleaning off Nancy's car, although to begin with she wasn't to sure of the snow due to several face plants! Here are some pictures , both of not being sure but then having fun. | |
| 11/24/2002 | zoe | Photos | Okay all or nothing I don't post for weeks and now 3 posts and pictures back to back! We had an early Thanksgiving with Mike's Dad, Barbara and Nancy today which was a lot of fun. We really couldn't make the trip back to Pittsfield right now so they came here and I cooked Turkey and the works, also my first Pumpkin pie which was okay and stopped my craving for it! What was a nice surprise is that Grandma Peggy stopped by in the afternoon - she purchased a rather smart new Honda CRV and was out driving around and ended up in Billerica :o) Okay and I am sure you are looking for pictures so here they are some from yesterday and today - Zara has decided that she likes vacuuming, sadly she is not happy when it gets put away! | |
| 11/21/2002 | zoe | Playtime | I met Vicky, Madeline and James at One Stop Fun in Westford - for those that remember it is like a big Discovery Zone. The kids had so much fun, and what was nice was the place was pretty empty. Here are some pictures , nice one of Vicky coming down the slide, she had to take Zara up the first time to show her what it was, we thought it best not to let me up in case I got stuck - I do have the larger of the tummies!! | |
| 11/20/2002 | zoe | Updates | Well I have been very bad at updating pictures of Zara - I am just not sure where the days go right now. I have been busy trying to get things done before String Bean makes it's entrance into the world. I have managed to make curtains for our bedroom (we had the table clothes from our wedding hanging up - don't ask!), and I am half way through making curtains for the Study then I believe that the whole house will be "curtained"! We have also been trying to finish varnishing the inside trim of the windows, I had done 1/2 the house but now winter is coming we needed to get the others done as some mornings there is condensation on them - not a good mix with unfinished wood! So I have also been taking some pictures of Zara - there are 2 lots 13 1/2 Months and then 14 Months . We lost baby Zara but gained Toddler Zara! | |
| 10/29/2002 | mem | linksys | You guessed it, yet another installment in the Linksys Saga. It started exhibiting some very odd behavior and is no longer functioning. Basically it started getting confused and masquerading connections out, but forwarding the responses to our server (probably due to port forwarding). But only for one of our PC's. Bizarre. We seem to have the worst of luck with the darn things (this being the 5th one in a year and a half). | |
| 10/27/2002 | zoe | Halloween | Hard to believe that this was our 7th year going to the Ibarguen's halloween party - and as always a good time was had by all!!! Mike came up with the idea of costumes this year - the 3 little pigs so I went to work making pink fleece sweat pants and sweat shirts for us all, piggy noses, ears and tails! We also had a children's halloween party during the day on Saturday, I hadn't planned on Zara wearing a costume but when I saw all the other children in them I called Mike and told him to hunt out last years lion outfit, told him to cut off the feet if need be. Well turns out all be it a little short he didn't have to cut the feet of, although she was a little squished so not bad 2 years running for the same outfit!!! I have put up a picture of her in the costume last year for comparison as well as pictures of this year. Here are the pictures . | |
| 10/27/2002 | zoe | Photos | Just going through all the photos from the past month and noticed that some of these hadn't made it to the web site yet. There is also a picture of the day we had snow in October - ekk hope that doesn't mean a bad winter, Dad might get his wish to shovel the driveway when they are here in December!!! | |
| 10/21/2002 | mem | zoo | Last weekend we went pumpkin hunting and stopped at a place called Krochmal Farms in Tewksbury. We didn't find any good pumpkins, but we did let Zara loose in the petting zoo. She had an absolute blast! A lot of the kids were a bit afraid of the animals, but Zara was running with the beasts. Luckily, we had the camera ready and took some pictures. | |
| 10/04/2002 | zoe | Pictures | I have at last got around to taking the pictures off of the camera and thought I would share with you all! I can't believe that a year has gone so quickly and how grown up she now looks. Hope you enjoy them . | |
| 10/03/2002 | mem | ideas | A while ago I posted a couple of ideas such as Disappearing Inkjet Cartridges. Now, you'd think most people would read them and come to the conclusion that perhaps they mightbe a bit tounge-and-cheek. Oddly enough, however, I've actually received what seem to be serious interest. Below is some email correspondence with one interested person, followed by a single email from another. I just thought it was a bit humorous. Their email correspondence can be found here | |
| 09/19/2002 | zoe | Family | Happy First B'day Katie!!!! Maybe one year you will be here and we can do a joint b'day party. | |
| 09/15/2002 | zoe | Family | Happy Happy 60th B'day Mum!! Zara sends you a big wet kiss and says she wishes she could hug you in person (as do we). Also Happy B'day to Amy!! | |
| 09/18/2002 | mem | toast | Look, 2 posts from me in the same month - in a row! It's been a while... Anyway, I was headed down into the basement to put together a machine with a couple of drives - I wanted to RAID them so that we had some sort of protection for our data aside from regular CD's being burned. Anyway, halfway down the stairs I smell something - sort of like burnt plastic. Zoe joined me in tracking it down to.... the power supply on our server! Cool. Luckily, the server has one identical twin and a close cousin (all purchased through an auction at work for a grand total of $125) so I don't lack for spare parts. I swapped in a new power supply and... nada. No lights, no fans, no dice. Hoping that it didn't fry everything I took the harddrive and put it in the other server I had configured identically (the one I was about to setup) and voila, we're up again. Currently doing a bit of backup and then I think I will make a special effort to get around to setting up that RAID. | |
| 09/14/2002 | mem | www | Thanks goodness for Slashdot! This afteroon I was catching up on current news and read this article about a Linux worm spreading via vulnerable Apache servers using older versions of SSL. It mentioned a file which would appear in the /tmp directory. I went and looked and there it was ( actually, a uuencoded version of it ) timestamped 3:56AM today. I quickly took the server off the network (not knowing what it was up to). Upon further investigation, I found an entry in the ssl_request_log from that exact time. It gave me an IP address (which is some host in Poland and probably an unwitting website like ours). Anyway, I upgraded openssl as suggested and should be all set now. All in all, it was 12 hours before I discovered that someone had dropped the file on our server. Then about 30 minutes to investigate and make sure that everything else looked ok. Another 10 minutes to upgrade SSL. Not too shabby. Of course, I should probably update the server to make sure no other problems exist... | |
| 09/08/2002 | zoe | Party | Today we had Zara's b'day party and it was such a lot of fun, we had about 30 people here at one time Ahh a little squishy but wonderful. We did Clifford the Big Red Dog as a theme as it's Zara's favorite show I think it has something to do with Clifford being a Dog. One of the highlights of the party was that Aunty Rosemary brought Haley the dog with her - Zara followed Haley around everywhere! We had a cake, a Pinata and of course lots of presents as usual she was spoilt! Thank you everyone for coming. I broke the pictures down into 2 groups 1 here and 2 here | |
| 09/08/2002 | zoe | Family | Happy B'day our little girl - I can't believe that you are a year old today. With all our love Mummy and Daddy. | |
| 09/08/2002 | zoe | Family | Happy Grandparents Day to all of Zara's Grand Parents - Grannie Anne, Grandad Dave, Grandma Peggie, Granpa Charlie, Nana Barbara and of cours GG Great Grandma Bee. | |
| 09/04/2002 | zoe | Stuff | Hmmm well yesterday was a very strange day for us, I took the truck in to have a new cd/radio put in the old one decided it didn't like CD's any more and would only tune into 1 radio station which happened to be a country station - just not my cup of tea and as it was still under warranty figure get it fixed. So while I was there I was talking to the service manager about how we were thinking of either getting a mini van or suv with a 3 row of seats, he had a word with one of the sales men to see what kind of trade in we would get for our truck just for kicks - well before you know it, it's 8:30pm we have been sat in the dealership for 4hrs and spent just as many on the phone and they have come up with quite a deal for us, oh and 0% financing for 5 years. So we picked up our new vehicle today ekkkkk a brand new navy blue Mitsibishi Montero XLS with the 3rd row of seats all very scary! Mike and I have never purchased a new vehicle just because it has always been because the one we were replacing was just about dead or needed to much money put in to make it worth it! Here are the pics of the new beast | |
| 09/02/2002 | zoe | Family | Happy Anniversay Mum and Dad!!! 35 years today and I am sure that Dad got you a wonderful big bunch of flowers to celebrate! Zara sends over extra gooey kisses for you both. | |
| 09/01/2002 | zoe | Get Togethers | Yesterday was Matt and Eileen's wedding and a lot of fun was had by all. Nancy came to babysit Zara which was wonderful that we got to go out on our own, the last time was back in March for Mike's birthday. They had a great band playing and the dance floor was only empty when they took a break - they played from about 5:30 - 10:30pm! They even got me to get up and dance! We wish Matt and Eileen all the happiness in the world as they start their new life together. And of course here are the pics ! | |
| 09/01/2002 | zoe | MummysGirl | To those that know me best my favorite Chip (crisp) is Salt and Vinegar, seems I passed that Gene onto my daughter - she ate a couple yesterday although you would think we were beating her to eat them she was actually really enjoying them! The tears were because they were so flavorful she was sucking them and the tears where rolling, it reminded me of my old days out on the town when the boys would eat the hottest curry they could and watch the tears roll! She did keep coming back for me! Here a couple of pictures . | |
| 08/29/2002 | zoe | Big Girl | I went and got Zara her first big girl shoes on Tuesday, it was all very exciting! Wednesday we went with Jill and Stanley to Davis Farmland which is a wonderful place for kids, it is a huge farm that has so many animals, cows, sheep, goats, deer, donkeys, horses, llamas to name a few. We played with the baby goats and sheep, and visited all the other animals the day flew by. Of course I took some pictures of not only Zara's new shoes but also our trip yesterday plus a couple of others from this week . | |
| 08/22/2002 | zoe | Zara | Well it has really happened, no she hasn't got any teeth where are your minds now!!! She is walking for real, she walks all over the room before flopping on the floor for a rest and starting again. It is amazing to see how much more steady she is on her feet just in a matter of days. I must say she things she is pretty special one she does walk accross the room! We went to vist her friend Ava yesterday so there a couple of picture from then and a few from this week. | |
| 08/22/2002 | zoe | House Things | I got my new stove installed today, it was a bit of a game to get the gas company to come out, actually one guy but I at last managed to drag a day and time out of him. It is sooooo nice I don't have to fight to get any of the pans in the oven now! Of course took a couple of pictures for those interested! | |
| 08/19/2002 | zoe | Updates | Well it's that time of year when we usually do our announcing! We would like to share with everyone that Zara will have a brother or sister who will hopefully arrive just before Christmas Day. The due date is December 14th, but of course as we know from experience this time that really means nothing! We don't know the sex of the baby and unlike last time we don't have it written down anywhere so there is no blackmailing us. So far everything has gone pretty smoothly, no morning sickness *phew*, we have noticed that my belly has grown a lot quicker this time which was funny. So right now I am staying in the house a lot with the Air Conditioners turned on high waiting for this heat wave to break. Here are our first pictures of our new String Bean | |
| 08/09/2002 | zoe | Photos | There are some photos here from this week - Zara is really taking steps now just 1 or 2 at a time then she wobbles but she's getting there! She figured out this week how to use her pram to walk around, the right way up it was to quick for her so she tipped it upside down and is still able to use the handle but it's not so fast. | |
| 08/01/2002 | zoe | Photos | Well lots have happened in the last week! We dog sat for Haley (Rosemary and Amy's Dog) while they went up to bar harbor - Zara loved it every morning when we came down and she said Doggie, the only bad thing is that now she calls the cats doggie!! Sue, Dave and Katie came to visit on Saturday night which was so nice, the only thing was that Zara didn't seem to be herself she kept crying and wanting to be hugged - very unlike her! Sunday Sue and Dave left in the afternoon and Zara seemed to get worse and actually her temp was 102 poor little thing. We gave her some medication and the fever went down pretty quickly, she also went to bed that night and slept through the night. Monday she was not feeling good and her temp went up again so we called the Dr and they said to just keep an eye on her. She didn't manage to sleep through the night on Monday she woke at 3am and downed a whole bottle and went back to sleep till 7am. Tuesday seemed to be a better day and her fever was gone, we did have a look in her mouth and dare I say she might be getting her first teeth *gasp* so soon!! Today - Thursday I notice she is covered in spots on her neck and shoulders, I call the Dr and they think she had some kind of virus and this is the end of it! Poor old Zara she is sleeping all day and night hopefully it will be gone soon and those pesky teeth come quickly! Here are some photos from the last week or so, there are some cute ones of Zara and Stanley. | |
| 07/24/2002 | mem | friends | This past weekend Carson was home for a rare visit. Rob's mom was visiting and so they were both in Pittsfield. So, I bundled up Zara and headed to Pittsfield for a quick day-trip (Zoe was feeling a bit under the weather and thus not looking forward to 4-5 hours in the car). It was just like old times to visit in the Utz's home (though Sam was quite a bit taller than "back then"). Anyway, being there reminded me of a picture we had taken almost 10 years ago. Here are some pictures from last Saturday. And here are the two pictures together. | |
| 07/14/2002 | zoe | Photos | It has been so hot and so hectic around here lately that I have been slacking on the pictures - but never fear here is a mixture from the last 2 weeks! | |
| 07/01/2002 | zoe | Growing Up | Well it happened Zara just took her first step. We had said for the longest time that she doesn't have a toy or blanket that she really loves, well she has decided that she loves a stuffed Elephant we got given before she was born - we have called it Ellie. Ellie had to be washed today because after many nights with Zara it was a little "mucky", I showed Zara Ellie and she took a step on her own towards it, of course Mike and I squealed which startled her otherwise I think she might have taken another one! Wow they really do grow up quick, we just worked out that in 9wks time she will be a year. | |
| 06/25/2002 | zoe | Photos | At last I hear you say a post from Zoe it must mean photo's!!! Well I have at last got round to putting up the pictures from England, they are in 2 sets just because for those on dial-up it would be painful to load all of them as thumbnails. We had a wonderful wonderful time in England I was so spoilt, I read 2 books had an afternoon nap every day and had all my washing done - thanks Mum!! We are back into the swing of things at home again, as usual here there and everywhere. Zara is doing great she is crawling/cruising all over the place, she chats up a storm to anyone who will listen and we swear sometimes we can hear actual words - now how's that for biased parents!! Here are the links to the pictures set 1 and set 2 | |
| 06/20/2002 | mem | pics | I finally found a really easy way to start adding a bit to the picture viewing stuff for the website. There's a great package called phpMyAdmin which is a full featured, web-based mysql database editor. Basically meant that I didn't have to finish my own web interface to begin using the database. Then I just added a bit to the script to add url's to the database if they don't already exist, or read out some info they do. So, you'll notice some information at the top of each picture, such as this picture. | |
| 06/02/2002 | mem | www | So, we finally decided to purchase a cable modem to save $10 off our monthly bill... When we first got service, they were about $220.00 and it would have taken 2 years of service to make up for the initial investment. We've had hiccups with service in the past six months (which turned out to be the fault of that stupid Linksys router), so we weren't sure if we might not switch to DSL (nice to have both as an option). Anyway, having sorted out our issues and found a cheap modem, I bought it. It arrived, and then 2 days later I found this article on Slashdot about how AT&T Broadband is doing some price finagling such that people who lease modems (as we did) end up paying the same amount, yet people who own modems now end up paying an additional $7 making the different basically $3.00. Had I known, I would not have bothered! | |
| 05/31/2002 | mem | trip | Zoe and Zara arrived safely in England. Zoe gave me a quick call when they got in and I called them later to see how things went. Zara did well on the plane. She slept for about half of the trip and would have slept more but Zoe kept having to take her out of the little bassinet thing and buckle her up due when the fasten-seatbelts sign came on. She spent the last few hours playing with the other passengers... | |
| 05/26/2002 | zoe | Busy | Well this week seems to have flown by, which is good as it means Zara and I are that much closer to going to England!! She has been doing all sorts of things this week, she pulled herself up on her toy basket and now she pulls herself up on anything! She also crawls but only backwards??!! She says DaDa and Ummy and she is also trying hard to say other things, it's interesting to see her move her tongue and try and make different sounds. We went to Drumlin Farm this week with Mums and Tots and got to see lots of animals which she thought were the bees knees. And of course the week would not be complete without photos so go check them out. | |
| 05/16/2002 | zoe | Pictures | As usual I have been slacking with posting but things are so crazy right now we don't seem to be home for more than an hour and if we are we have visitors! I have been taking some pictures of Zara which are here, we got a nice day last week and she was able to wear the sundress Grannie sent her. Mike also took a really cute picture of scrappy , it just shows what a loving cat he is, actually he cuddles more than Zara!! The other big news is that I am going to go home in 2 weeks, I booked my tickets yesterday - of course Zara is very excited to see Grannie and Grandad! | |
| 05/07/2002 | zoe | Outside | Zara loves going to the park and swinging so I found a baby swing for her last week. We put it up on Saturday and took a couple of pictures ! We have also been very lucky and been given some outside furniture from some-one up the street, we got a little play castle with a ladder and slide and then a little stand alone slide!! We need to wash it up and then it will be set to go. It is so nice our street has so many little ones there are 4 under 1 which is great, although poor old Zara will be in the lower year to the others as she was born in September but hopefully they will include her in things when she gets older. She loves watching the bigger kids and actually squeals when they come close - it is a lot of fun. | |
| 05/02/2002 | zara | BDay | Happy Birthday Mummy!!! (Daddy helped me with this post) | |
| 05/02/2002 | mem | BDay | Happy birthday Zoe! Zoe turned 32.. err, 29 for the 3rd time today. Of course, it's also a whole bunch of other people's birthday's out there. Some that I know of are Zoe's Aunty Sue, James, Aaron, and a co-worker Matt whom we held a memorial service tocelebrating the passing of his youth since he just turned 30 (complete with coffin). Hang on, Zara wants to say hi to Mummy...| dexxxxxxxxxxxx2 4 e4m, 1;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;m bbbbbbbbbbbbbttttttttttb c 5 We love you! | |
| 04/29/2002 | mem | www | Some might remember the saga of the Linksys router that we bought almost a year ago to use as a gateway. We had been using an old 486 running Linux, but I wanted something that Zoe could work from home through. At the time, using IPSec behind a masquerading Linux box required some work. I thought it would be so easy to buy the Linksys and ended up going through four before I got one that really worked. Well, the fourth one died and a fifth one is now in place. I would have ditched it long ago except I paid for the darn thing and I can only return it for replacements. Anyway, I can't say I recommend this product since it's been nothing but trouble (though others have had good luck). | |
| 04/28/2002 | zoe | Animals | Poor Scrappy is feeling pretty sorry for himself today - this morning he was kind of limping so we took a look and his back left paw was in pretty ruff shape. We took him to the on-call vet and turns out that the paw is the least of his problems the vet things he might have a heart mummer that could cause him to drop at any moment??!! Ekkkk, so first thing tomorrow morning we are going to call our own vet and see if she can confirm this and if so what we should do about it, the funny thing is he has been going every 6 months to the vet since he was 10weeks old and he is now almost 4 so not sure how it got missed. Anyway to add injury to insult he has to have his foot bandaged and it's neon pink - there goes the street credibility! And While we are talking about Cats, Noodle wanted to let us know when we got home that he would prefer us not to go away again without bringing him! | |
| 04/28/2002 | zoe | Zara | Here are a couple of pictures taken of Zara this week - my favorite has to be the feather one, she actually sat against a pillow and managed to pick the feather up from there! I will find the other picture we took when she was a couple of weeks old against a bag of jacks so you can see the difference! | |
| 04/28/2002 | zoe | Family | At last I am getting around to putting up the pictures from our trip to Denver! I have put them under 2 directories as there are about 40 of them - you can find them here and the second set here. We had a great time and it was so wonderful to see Katie and Zara together, Zara was funny every time she had a nap or first thing in the morning when she saw Katie she would squeal and have to go touch her. The weather was great although they kept telling us every day there was going to be a snow storm - we never saw it. It was great to see where Dave, Sue and Katie live and also wonderful to get to see Nancy, who finished this week and is heading back to MA via the Grand Canyon! Both flights were okay, a little puking episode on the way (can we just say mount etan erupted) but it was very lucky there was a spare seat and so we had taken her car seat on and she was sat in it at the time! I would most certainly fly with Frontier again they were very good. Okay I should end this as I have a couple of other things to update the site with. | |
| 04/26/2002 | mem | Family | Zara flew out to Denver to visit her cousing Katie last week. She was nice enough to let Zoe and I tag along and we happened to also see Sue, Dave, and Nancy while there. It was nice to have the two girls together and hang out with everyone. We had great fun playing Scrabble, visiting Elitch Park (an amusement park) and general visiting. | |
| 04/17/2002 | zoe | Family | While visiting in Lenox Zara got to see a horse for the first time. We went to see Geordie riding (which he is really good at) and Zara got to sit on Bee, she thought it was the best thing especially when a couple of other horses came into the ring everytime they went by she would squeal with delight! Of course you might guess that I took a couple of snapshots ! | |
| 04/17/2002 | zoe | Animals | I went to visit with Rosemary and Amy the last couple of days as they are on school vacation. Turns out to be a great time to go - there was a bear in the tree just down the road from them with her cubs. They think she was hit but not hurt just stunned and climbed the tree to protect the cubs. The bear was up there a total of 18hrs from 3am Monday Morning till around 9am Monday night. Of course having never seen a bear in person I had to go look and of course took some pictures! | |
| 04/13/2002 | zoe | Zara | We had a few first's this week. Wednesday we went to the park with some friends as the weather was so great and Zara had her first swing. It was funny I was pushing her for about 20mins and she loved it the next min I look and she is fast asleep! She stayed asleep for about 20mins after that, Dad was sad he didn't get to go with us so we met him after work at the park in Billerica, only took one picture as the camera batteries went. Friday we went with Jill and Stanley to the YMCA to swim - Zara loved it she kicked around and I dunked her under once. We are off today to sign up for baby swim classes that start at the begining of May which should be fun! Last night while Mike was undressing Zara for her bath I was getting the swim things out of the bag to wash I thought I heard her say "DADA" I whipped my head up towards them and Mike looked at me and asked if I had heard that - YES!! Of course she hasn't said it since! So that's all the happenings here this week. | |
| 04/13/2002 | zoe | Friends | The MA girls got together again last weekend. It is so wonderful to see the babies growing. We were saying that when we had the cookie swap at christmas Noah, Tess and Zara were just there they didn't do anything - now they are playing with toys sitting up on their own laughing and talking! Carter now there is a whole other story he is into everything and ran all over the place hard to believe he was under 2lbs when he was born. I took a couple of pictures of the babies. | |
| 04/02/2002 | zoe | Sad | Today is a sad day in our house, I came downstairs this morning and Itchy the Guinea Pig was very quite in the corner of his cage, I opened up the fridge which usually gets at least a little squeal from him, nothing :o( I went over and put some lettuce in his cage and he didn't even move to get it, I took it to him and he wasn't interested, this was about 9:30am. He passed away about 30mins later. Itchy had a wonderful life and was exactly 4 years old, he now joins his brother Scratchy in Piggy Heaven. | |
| 04/01/2002 | mem | logs | I was just perusing the logs and noticed that the newest version of analog now includes the top search terms used by people who then visited our site. I found it hilarious that the words invisiline and braces were there and did a search on Google. Sure enough, up came a link to the ToothGuard for Bulemics. Hilarious! Glad I could help people out there looking for information. | |
| 04/01/2002 | zoe | Zara | We took some pictures of Zara over the last couple of days - check out the new style in head wear - she is actually auditioning for the next Star Wars!! | |
| 04/01/2002 | zoe | Easter | We had our 2nd Annual Easter Egg hunt yesterday and a lot of fun was had by all. We did a brunch (way to much food as usual) and then the hunt. Took a couple of snap shots !! | |
| 04/01/2002 | zoe | House | All the windows are in and the front door!!! Now all I have to do is fill all the holes in the trim and varnish the wood. Last Wednesday I decided seeing as the furniture in the living room was in the middle of the floor that I might paint the room!! So I did! I have painted it a sage/olive green which pulls from the colours of the couch. Of course I took a couple of pictures although you don't get a sense of the the true colour but close enough. | |
| 03/28/2002 | zoe | Easter | Zara got a package from England today from Grannie and Grandad - it was a Lindt Chocolate Bunny!! I took some pictures of her with it, it's all chocolate so pretty heavy poor thing couldn't lift it!! It had a red ribbon around it's neck with a bell which she loved!! Thanks Grannie and Grandad I will enjoy it, I mean Zara will enjoy it!! | |
| 03/24/2002 | zoe | Mum just wanted to let you know that the couch cover you carried thousands of miles is at last seeing some action!! | ||
| 03/18/2002 | zoe | Zara | Eileen had a house and garden party on Friday night so rather than drive down back and then down again on Saturday we stayed with Bill and Vicky. Madeline was so good with Zara, I think it was like having your own living doll for 24hrs!! Zara loved being around both Madeline and James and watched whatever they did with great interest. Couple of big things this weekend, she really is rolling from her tummy to her back and I have been pretty good about making her have tummy time (which for the records she still hates). Saturday lunch time she was watching me eat my pizza so I cleaned all the cheese of the crust and let her suck it - well every time I went to replace it with a non soggy piece she let rip, think she will be like dad a pizza eater!! Here are some pictures of the kids over the weekend. | |
| 03/18/2002 | zoe | Game Night | We had game night on Saturday and I have to say what fun it was. We played a couple of great games, I think both of which belong to Royce but will soon be purchased for he Masino House. We played battle of the sexs - boys versus girls and other than the fact that all the questions we got were about fishing it was good. I took a couple of pictures that you can find here. | |
| 03/15/2002 | zoe | Zara | I have been taking some pictures of Zara this week and they all have a common theme - I think she is trying to tell me it's time to move onto something other than milk! | |
| 03/11/2002 | zoe | House | As we had a long ladder in our back yard over the weekend Mike decided to use it - he didn't get to cut down the tree he wanted he saved that for this coming weekend. After 3 years of living here he put a cap on the chimney to the living room - actually we have been pretty lucky and just had the one duck come down it last year. Of course he took the camera up and took some scenic views | |
| 03/08/2002 | zoe | Pictures | I have taken a couple of pictures of Zara Bean this week, there is one that really shows how much she is growing she is now quite a chubby baby! | |
| 03/07/2002 | zoe | House | YEAH we are having our new front door installed today, maybe this one will fit and we won't have a 1/2" gap all around! I have been taking pictures of the whole process of course so go check them out | |
| 02/28/2002 | zoe | Pictures | I was checking out "pecknet.com" and found some pictures of game night 2 of which I think are wonderful so I stole them and put them up here as well - thanks Vicky!! At first when I was looking at them I thought it was cute that Madeline had her doll, then I realized it was a real life doll!!! | |
| 02/27/2002 | zoe | Updates | Here are some pictures I took over the weekend and a couple this week - Enjoy! | |
| 02/27/2002 | zoe | Friends | We has some visitors today - Steph and Baby Ava, Marie and Baby Marisa. It was so much fun to see the girls and how much they have grown. Ava is 8months old and is just a sweatie eating cherios and big girl food. Zara had a lot of fun talking with Ava they were quite a pair. Marisa is a very sweat girl but I think she needs to let her Mummy sleep a little more!! I took some pictures of them. | |
| 02/23/2002 | zoe | Camera | Talking to Mike this morning about our digital camera it turns out that we can do a whole bunch of things with it, including Black and White and Old Style pictures. So of course what did we do, tried it out! It is the same picture just done in different styles - check it out. | |
| 02/22/2002 | zoe | Pictures | Thought that you might want to see these new pictures as well as the Black and White ones. This is just a collection taken over the last week. | |
| 02/22/2002 | zoe | Pictures | I thought I would test out the Kodak black and white film, unlike the usual Black and White film this one can be processed anywhere - but that's not actually really true I found out today!! Costco (where I get all my pics done) can't do it, Target can and I should have used them but I ended up going to ritz, and now I wish I had splurged and got the cd rom instead of having to scan the stinking things in!! So here they are Black and White pictures of Zara | |
| 02/13/2002 | mem | Illness | Zoe had to go and top me in the illness category. She's too competitive to let me get away with having a 103.6 temperature, mysterious source of illness and break out in a rash all over. No, she had to go and catch pneumonia! All that's left is to give the cats and Itchy some of my leftover Amoxicillin and we could say the entire household was on them... | |
| 02/12/2002 | zoe | Update | Another week another illness - can you believe I am now sick last night I was actually contemplating going and getting the drill and making a hole in my skull to release the pressure, all I can say is Dad if this is anything like a migraine my heart goes out to you. I have never had such a headache, I was also freezing cold even though I had a sheet, feather comforter, 2 blankets, fleecy pjs and socks on and had a temp of 101!! Today I have to say has been much better and Zara has been an angel all day. I swear we are passing this junk back and forward between us. I have pulled some pictures off of the camera taken over the last week, there is a cute one of Rob and Zara but it is a little fuzzy, I couldn't resist it though - go check them out | |
| 02/12/2002 | mem | Illness | Well, it looks like I should now consider myself allergic to Amoxicillin. I seem to have broken out in red spots - most especially on my hands and feet, which are also swollen and itchy. Zoe had me call the doctor to make sure I should not be too concerned about it. He said I had the beginnings of an Amoxicillin rash and that I should stop taking it and consider myself allergic the next time I need antibiotics. Oh, and the rash may spread and continue for several days - what fun! And how sad is my husband - if you feel the need to look at his foot and arm he took a picture! | |
| 02/11/2002 | mem | www | I wanted to do something to the website since it's been pretty static lately. Luckily Zoe is great at throwing up new pictures. I've been busy with transferring everything to the new server and then trying to fix things I break in an attempt to do things more logical. In any case, the change is on the main page and is that a random thumbnail with link is created at the end of the row of pictures of Zara. Just a little something different every time you visit. Click on it to view the picture and others in the same directory. | |
| 02/11/2002 | mem | Alive | Contrary to popular belief (and my sincerest wishes several days ago), I did not expire from my illness. I have now recovered enough to do more than stare at the wall and pray for sleep... I still feel like crap, but it's just like having a plain old cold rather than plague. Of course, now Zoe is feeling terrible - figures... | |
| 02/06/2002 | zoe | Update | YEAH my computer is fixed *phew* I thought it was going to be like being a builders wife and not being able to get your bathroom fixed, ohhh did I say that Sorry Dad!! Here are some pictures taken over the last week including Zara's rather stylish GO PAT'S T'shirt that I crafted on Saturday night in time for Liz's big Super Bowl Bash! | |
| 02/06/2002 | zoe | Illness | Okay so it's one thing after another in our house, now Mike is sick - and for those that know Mike he is never just sick he always goes the whole way. Sunday night he had a temp of almost 104 ekkkk, Monday we went to the Dr's and it was 103.4 he had the highest temp they have seen this season WOOHOOO. Dr came in took one look at him and said strep throat, took a sample and off we went with antibiotics. Well turns out it's not strep his temp is still up 4 days later at 101, so we have to wait another couple of days and see if it breaks if not back to the Dr's - poor guy. We have been trying really hard to keep Zara away from him she just finished antibiotics on Sunday for her ear infections so hopefully they will still be in her body and keep her safe. And if that isn't enough stuff going on my computer at home kicked the bucket, it was beeping when you turned it on now it doesn't even turn on, so no pictures this week, they are on the camera but Mike doesn't have the software on his machine, we have to bribe Rob with dinner one night to see if he can fix it, or I could have one of the other 5 machines we have at home!! Hopefully I will be up and running by the end of the weekend. | |
| 01/31/2002 | mem | www | Well, masino.com is now running on a new server. I managed to obtain some equipment via an auction at work and we've upgraded from a P133MMX with 40MB or RAM to a PII333 with 256MB or RAM. Just a slight improvement. Please, if anyone has any trouble or sees anything odd, let me know. I re-arranged some stuff and have hopefully not broken anything... | |
| 01/30/2002 | zoe | Update | Just thought I would post a quick note. Zara seems to be doing a little better thank goodness she still has the rash but hasn't had any more hight temps. As for the antibiotics she has been doing really well taking them, we tell her it's dessert as it is strawberry flavour hmmmm tasty!! The big news for this week is that I am going to become a Stay at Home Mum, my last day at Genuity will be February 14th - Happy Valentines Day to me!! It was very hard for me mentally to actually quit having worked since I was 13 and now to not know when I will work again is all very strange, but in a good way! Pictures I hear you ask, why yes of course here are some taken on Monday night. | |
| 01/25/2002 | zoe | Illness | It has been a sad house this week Zara got her first Ear Infection - ahh the joys of Day Care!! I found myself a nice old Stomach Virus and all I can say is I never want that again! Mike has what we think is this flu bug he is aching and stuffed up, between the 3 of us we have gone through 5 boxes of tissues in the last 10days! We also found this lump in Zara's mouth last night she was chewing on Mikes finger while watching TV, after some investigation it looks like it might be a little old tooth!! We will keep you posted but from what we have heard it could take a couple of weeks or more to actually appear - ekkk how much must it hurt. | |
| 01/21/2002 | zoe | B'Day | A very happy 3rd Birthday to Madeline, I can't quite believe that she is 3 already - I can still remember talking to Vicky a couple of hours after she gave birth and it seems like yesterday. Zara was invited to Madeline's party yesterday and after much begging we agreed to take her! So for those interested there are some pictures here. It was great fun to see all the kids, and Vicky made a great cake with a character from dragon tales, this means nothing to me right now but I think it might in a years time!! | |
| 01/15/2002 | zoe | Family | Took some pictures over the last couple of weeks to add to the site. We got Zara an exersaucer at the weekend and so far it is a big hit as you will see from the pictures. We are just begining to get used to our new schedule, I have to say the days that Zara goes to day care are rushed in the evening. Okay it's 6:15pm and time for a bath. | |
| 01/10/2002 | zoe | update | Well not to much going on, actually it is frantic right now but no time to post or take pictures!! I returned to work last week on Wednesday which was so hard after being home with the Bean for the last 4 months. Zara is in Day Care right next door to Mike which works out great as he gets to drop her off (I think if I dropped her off I would end up staying all day). We haven't quite got the morning routine down yet so it takes us about an hour to get Mike and Zara out the door then I get 40mins to get ready on my own. We have been taking it in turns to pick her up depending on who finishes work earlier. It is very hard for me to be back at work I enjoyed being a stay at home mum very much, actually I also enjoyed making dinner every day, having a clean house and no huge piles of laundry. Mike is off to see the Lord of the Rings either tonight or tomorrow so maybe you will get a post from him regarding the movie over the weekend - and we will try to take some new photos. | |
| 01/01/2002 | mem | Family | I also wanted to thank everybody for coming to the "Meet the Masino Babies" party on Sunday. It was great to see everybody and a great opportunity to show off our little ones! It was a whirlwind of people, but we did manage to take a couple of good pictures with people. Zoe already mentioned that all the photos can be found here. There are nice ones with Tom, Mrs Utz, and The Utzs. Oh, and Happy New Year to all... | |
| 01/01/2002 | zoe | To All | Just wanted to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. | |
| 01/01/2002 | zoe | Family | We got to meet Katie Anne (Masino) Galt this weekend for the first time, for those just joining it is Zara's cousin who was born 11 days after her, she is just like Zara a cutie!! We had a second Christmas with Dad, Barbara, Sue, Dave, Katie and Nancy it was a lot of fun, it was funny we tried to take a picture of Zara and Katie in the chair together but they kept taking it in turns to cry, so it didn't work out quite as planned. We stayed with Rosemary, Amy and the Boys which is always fun :o) We had the meet the Masino Babies party on Sunday which was truly a great way to get to see everyone, I know we wouldn't have had time to see everyone otherwise. Thank you all for coming. And of course for thos interested here are the photos | |
| 01/01/2002 | zoe | Home | At last we are home, it has been so nice to go away and see everyone but it is a nice feeling to now that we are home. So how was Christmas I hear you say? Christmas was wonderful actually the whole trip home was great. I went down to visit my Grandmother, Aunts and Uncles and it was so much fun. Zara got to meet her Great, Great Aunt Pauline who spoilt us. We also got to see Dad's side of the family, Auntie Sue, Uncle Paul, Jane Auntie Nina and Uncle Ivan - it was only for a couple of hours but was still nice, we had some wonderful mince pies while there!! Christmas day was very low key which was nice, we had turkey of course (a little later than planed but I promised Mum I wouldn't post the story), and lots of presents for us all! It was great to see Mum and Dad of course loved Zara, even Rosie Mum's old cat liked her except when she cried. The weather was good the whole time we were there, in fact only a hint of rain one day, and yes we did see snow - well actually about 12 flakes but hey it was snow!! We took a couple photo's while we were there so if your at all interested here they are here | |
| 12/28/2001 | zoe | Home | *Phew* we made it home in one piece last night. I was lucky going out they upgraded me to "World Traveller Plus" it just means you pay a little more money and you get one less seat to a row and an extra little leg support - which was very nice! So we get to the airport last night and they don't have Mike and I sitting together they have us a row apart?? They found us 2 seats but they were at the back of the plane, I asked what would happen if the seat in front of me was reclined and squashed our child? So after a little hassle they upgraded us again on the way back - and why was this such a problem because we needed a bulk head seat so as to have either the travel crib or car seat that they provide and they only have 2 seats in world traveller class that can cope with this, so my feelings are that if you carry babies on your flights then you need to provide a space regardless of what class it is in! Zara was good and only cried a little just because she was so tired, we did manage to keep her awake after a couple of naps and she went to bed at 9:30pm, and didn't do badly through the night she got up at 1:30am, and then again at 4am but this time it was because she had managed to hit her head on the side of the crib! I am sure you want some pictures which I am working on right as we speak, but I won't get chance to post them till after the weekend. We are off to Lenox today to stay with Rosemary, Amy and the crew and also to see Sue, Dave, Nancy and of course Katie - Zara's cousin which is so exciting!! We have a party on Sunday in Pittsfield so as to show off our babies to all that have not seen them yet, of course as you can imagine we will hate that!! Okay I have to run and get the pictures off the camera - have a wonderful New Year everyone. | |
| 12/18/2001 | zoe | Congrats | So this news couldn't wait till I got home - A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO STEVE AND AMY who got engaged at the weekend. I wish I was nearer to celebrate with you. Have a wonderful vacation together!! | |
| 12/11/2001 | mem | England | Zoe and Zara have arrived safely in England. Zoe called at 1:46AM to let me know they arrived ok, but I wasn't 100% sure I remembered them calling or had had a dream about them calling. So I called this morning (noon their time) and woke them up from napping. Since I didn't get to talk to them for long I didn't find out how Zara was on the plane, or what Grand-dad Hornsby's and Uncle Liam's reactions to meeting Zara. | |
| 12/09/2001 | zoe | England | So tomorrow Zara and I are off to england, and you would never guess by the 800 bags I have lined up in the living room - and I thought it was just Elizabeth Taylor who didn't know the meaning of packing light!! I have even packed the baby Tylenol just in case my sweet child decides that she doesn't like to sleep on planes, even though it will be night time. Dad and Liam are going to make the trip up to the Airport to pick me up (2.5hrs), so, I hear you say that's nice, how about if I tell you that my flight lands at 5am - hero's I hear you say!! I will try and check in when I get home to England, but in case I don't have a Wonderful Christmas and Safe New Year everyone!! | |
| 12/09/2001 | zoe | Family | Thought I would share with you all our christmas stocking gift this year!! | |
| 12/08/2001 | zoe | News | Well the girls got together again, if you remember the last time was in the summer when Suzanne, Lynne and I were still pregnant. It was so nice to see everyone, as if that was not fun on it's own we also did a cookie swap! For those that don't know what a cookie swap is (I didn't till this week) - you bake a batch of your favorite cookies and take them with you (in our case as there were only 5 of us we did 2 kinds). Then you take some of everyone else's cookies home with you and your supposed to be all set for the holidays - okay ours didn't quite last that long however I did save a small bag to take to Dad and Liam! In case you are interested there are a couple of pictures here, they are the last 3 pictures. | |
| 12/07/2001 | zoe | Family | Thought I would share with you all 2 new pictures of Katie Ann, I don't know how old she was in them, but still the girls look alike!! Katie. | |
| 12/05/2001 | zoe | Sorry not much picture taking right now I am just trying to get everything together for out trip. I can't believe that Zara and I leave for England on Monday - mind you it is hard to miss it when you look at our living room and see all the stuff in it!! I just hope they let me check that many bags ekkk!! Well in case I don't post before I leave have a wonderful Christmas everyone and a safe new year. | ||
| 11/29/2001 | zoe | update | "At Last" I hear you say new pictures!! Yes folks I know that it has been a week or so since my last entry but with Christmas fast approaching and our trip to England coming up there is no time for posting, but fear not pictures have been taken!!! I actually got around to knitting Zara something, that's right at last I knit for everyone else but I managed to find some spare time to make her a hat and the good thing is it will fit her for the next 2 years!! If you are at all interested the pictures are here. Among the pictures are a couple of her in her new party/Christmas dress, what a cutie if I do say so myself. | |
| 11/15/2001 | zoe | So I have been somewhat of a slacker this last week with not posts, but don't worry I took some pictures!! Mike had Monday off which was so nice, although we spent most of the day getting rid of leaves *yuck* and putting away logs - thanks Rob. I have put some new pictures up, there are a couple cute ones of Zara in her bath Today I went to Visit Vicky, Madeline and James which was very nice and oh what a beautiful warm day. I can't believe how quickly they are growing Madeline is a little girl now and James well what can a biased Godmother say about her godson - and the big boy haircut very nice! | ||
| 11/09/2001 | zoe | update | Okay so lots to update on this week. The end of last week was a wash, I had a cold which I gave to Mike and also Zara got a little congested but not to bad - lets just say though we might have to spend some money on therapy later on in her life whenever she sees one of the "bugger bulbs" you see a dr use when a baby is first born (they give you the one they use to take home for this purpose). Wednesday we said goodbye to Granny, she had a good visit with her Granddaughter and Great Granddaughter. Today, Friday we had our 2 month check up and shots. Well we went in armed to do battle with the pediatrician but we must have seen her "nice" twin sister!! The out come was that Zara is growing well and seems to be a very alert and bright child - how big were our heads leaving the room! Her stats are: Weight 8lbs11oz, Height 21.75" and head 38cm. Okay then on to the 4 shots, yes 2 in each leg OWIE!! The nurse who did them was so gentle with her and I actually thought she was going to cry at one point!! Zara did squeal while they were being given but was okay once Mummy started to cuddle her afterwards - mind you this afternoon was a little bumpy and we had to resort to baby tylenol! Through all of the trauma of today our girl still managed some smiles tonight that we caught on film - take a look | |
| 11/3/2001 | zoe | Family | So Grandad and Nana came for a visit today which was so nice. They came to see not only Zara but also Granny B. We actually ventured out for lunch, we went to Chili's in Nashua we figured with 5 of us and a busy resturant we should be able to drown any screams! Zara was great she woke up just as I finished lunch I gave her a bottle and she just chilled out. | |
| 11/02/2001 | mem | www | Lately we have been having services outages with AT&T Broadband. Almost every day there has been a period where we have lost our connectivity. Well, yesterday it was out in the morning and we were unable to get it restored by the usual method (waiting). So, I gave them a call last night to troubleshoot it and basically the best they could come up with was to power-cycle the modem and see if the light that was not supposed to be flashing stopped. Well, it didn't, so they scheduled a service visit for November 13th. Talk about service! Later, the lights looked correct and I gave it a shot with no luck, but this morning Zoe again noticed the modem indicated it was ok and finally it worked. So, apologies for the outage. We're back. We're going to set up a backup website in case of long periods of service outages. Nothing much, just someplace to throw a message about the outage. In any case, welcome to November! | |
| 10/30/2001 | zoe | Zara | I know you are not going to believe it but there are yet more pictures of Zara. This set was mostly taken for Gradma Anne as she is wearing one of the outfits she brought over from England! Go take a look | |
| 10/28/2001 | zoe | Party | So our sweet girl really doesn't seem to have got the concept that today you get an extra hour in bed - so here I am in front of the computer uploading pictures from the Halloween Party last night. Thanks Keith and Christine for yet another great Halloween Party!! There were a few good costumes last night of course the best being that little Lion that showed up! Not sure if I trust the 2 nurses there to provide much care, but it was okay because hazmat was on the scene with God. | |
| 10/24/2001 | zoe | Zara | Hmmm guess what new pictures have been added to the site - yep of Mike!! Actually we used the video function on the digital camera so make sure to check the 2 little clips we did here | |
| 10/19/2001 | zoe | Zara | We ended up going to the Pediatrician's today, I called to ask if I should worry that Zara had been kind of congested for the last couple of days and they had me bring her straight in. The snuffles are nothing we just have to keep an eye on her, but they did weigh her again and in 1 week she has gained 10oz - Go Zara (with a little help from me :o)) she is now 7lbs6oz | |
| 10/19/2001 | zoe | Arrival | Granny arrived safe and sound on Wednesday evening and I have to say she is pretty brave - I think she was pushed on by the fact she would see her first Great Grandchild! So true to form we have taken some new pictures, a couple of Granny and Zara go check them out | |
| 10/18/2001 | zoe | Milestones | Oh it's amazing - no we didn't get a whole nights worth of sleep but we did get our first smiles and we are not just taking windy ones!! The joys of these milestones, okay and I would take the whole nights worth of sleep as well! | |
| 10/18/2001 | mem | Oops! | Well, a slight configuration error seems to have made some emails get lost in the ether. I had trouble sending email using my mail client on my other machine (not the server) and it kept denying the relay due to anti-spam settings. I added an entry allowing its address (which happened to be part of a dynamic range) to relay, and it worked. So, it also worked fine for Zoe if she happened to get that address (which she generally did since her machine is turned on more often). That is, until yesterday's IP fun. Zoe's machine stayed up during a power cycle of the Linksys and so it ended up getting a different address which, as you might guess, was not allowed to relay. Ugh! Anyway, big apologies to me to those who Zoe sent email and it did not arrive (and Zoe whose emails got munched) | |
| 10/17/2001 | mem | www | Well, for the first time in years, our IP address has changed. Yesterday AT&T Broadband had some difficulty - their name servers kept disappearing (all of them - probably not a good thing). Today when our DHCP lease was up, it was not renewed. When I did it by hand, we got a new IP for the first time since we started getting service. So, since I never bothered to setup the script to update our DNS automatically, I had to do it by hand (which is ok since I had to renew our lease by hand anyway). So, obviously it worked if you can read this. Let me know if you can't :) | |
| 10/13/2001 | mem | Outing | We went out to dinner for the first time today. Ok, we did eat in the parking lot of KFC the other day when we took so much time to pick up the car. But today we trekked up to Babies R Us and stopped for lunch at the North Shore mall food court. Hmm, maybe that doesn't count either... Anyway, Zara was alert and not fussy. She was mesmerized by all the noise and bustle. | |
| 10/12/2001 | mem | Zara | Zara had her 1 month appointment (though actually at 5 weeks old) today. It's amazing to think that this little bean was born such a short time ago (yet sometimes it seems like it has been such a long time). She now measures 20.5 inches and weighs 6 pounds, 11 ounces. That's a gain of 1 inch and 18 ounces since her last weighing 17 days previous. Every parent we have talked to has thought this was a great growth rate (but don't ask what the pediatrition's opinion was). I think perhaps people are a bit too obsessed with the whole growth percentile thing - Zara was in the 50% percentile for length and head circumference, but less than 0 percentile for weight. Wouln't that mean she was lighter than air? And she did gain more than an ounce per day... Anyway, we are happy with her progress and she is healthy and alert... | |
| 10/10/2001 | zoe | Outing | Well we wanted to go test our new road out this afternoon - they came on Tuesday and finally repaved our road so we no longer live on the moon!! But sadly we think this means we are not slated to have town sewer any time soon, thank goodness we sprung for the risers last year Mike doesn't really fancy digging down to the tank again! Actually the walk was part of a cunning plan to see if Zara would fall asleep with the fresh air and it seemed to work for about 15mins. Noodle also decided he might like to tag along with us which was cool as it made it a family outing! Of course it has been some number of days since we posted new pictures so here are some from the last couple of days. In case your interested there are also a couple new ones under week 4 | |
| 10/07/2001 | mem | auto | We dropped off our sad Mitsubishi Montero at the dealership last week to be fixed. It wasn't 100% driveable after the accident - the bumper was pushed into the driver-side front wheelwell. The tire rubbed if you made to much of a left turn. So, rather than bother with a tow and whatnot (and to make picking up a rental easier) I got out some tools and attempted to "adjust" the bumper. The jack finally did the trick. Some pictures are here. | |
| 10/06/2001 | mem | Katie | So Zoe has been bugging me to keep checking to see if Sue and Dave sent us any pictures and it turns out that they did. I forgot to check my MediaOne account. Looks like Dave put some pictures up on his band's website here. We also stole the set and put them local here. It astonishing how similar Zara and Katie look in a couple of pictures - especially the gif ( which required a quick update to the picture viewing page to deal with, so no navigation as of yet). | |
| 10/04/2001 | mem | Zara | Surprise, surprise, more pictures of little Zara are available. They can be found in the unimaginiatively named directory Zara/Week04. Linda (one of my co-workers) got to meet her after giving me a ride home (due to the squished car). I think her boyfriend's single, childless days are numbered... | |
| 10/01/2001 | mem | Zara | This weekend was another weekend of visiting. Rosemary, Amy and the boys (and the dogs) came up to see little Zara. At the same time, Peggy (whom we have asked to be a surrogate grandmother) dropped in. All were bearing gifts (honestly folks, you don't have to bribe us to let you see the baby) for Zara. Pictures can be found under Zara/Week03. There are also a few other news pics, most notably of Zara with a bow on her head (1, 2, and 3). | |
| 10/01/2001 | mem | auto | In other, not so happy news, our shiny new (well, year old but still newer) Montero Sport got a little crunched. For some reason it seems to attract elderly gentlemen in Oldsmobiles as this is the second time one has run into it. This time, Zoe was driving, and had even come to a stop as the guy wandered over to the wrong side of the road. He wasn't going too fast, and no one was hurt, but the bumper did its job and absorbed the impact. Unfortunately, it pushed it into the wheel-well a bit, so the car is undrivable for the moment. Now we wait for the insurance people to get their act together so we can get it fixed. What a pain! | |
| 10/01/2001 | mem | Misc | There are lots of little things to mention, but we just haven't had time to get around to posting them (can't imagine why)? Just wanted to put up a brief note explaining that we will eventually get around to it. There are some new pictures as well which have yet to be processed. In any case, welcome to October! | |
| 09/26/2001 | mem | Zara | Grandma Hornsby arrived last night. She couldn't wait to see her granddaughter. She'll be staying with us for a couple of weeks. We managed to sneak a couple pictures of her with Zara (both in Week03) here and here. | |
| 09/23/2001 | mem | Zara | Grandpa Masino came up to see his granddaughter on Sunday. We took a few pictures of him holding her. They can be found with others in week03. | |
| 09/21/2001 | mem | Katie | Welcome Katie Anne Galt! More details to follow, but now we welcome another little one to the family. Sue had her little girl on Wednesday, September 19th at 9:03PM . I'm not exactly sure of the exact measurements, but I believe she weighed in at 6 lbs 8 ounces and 19? inches. | |
| 09/20/2001 | mem | World | I had heard of the world-wide outpouring of grief and sympathy for the victims of the September 11th attack, but I followed this link (http://home.earthlink.net/~hankinhsd/thankyou.htm on Pecknet and was overwhelmed seeing it displayed in pictures from around the world. I know that Britain had three minutes of silence accross the country the other day, and just a casual browse of these pictures shows what other countries have done in support. I absolutely suggest you have a look. | |
| 09/20/2001 | mem | Zara | Believe it or not, we actually found yet another occaison to snap some pictures of our little bean. I know, hard to believe it. Anyway, they've been added to the pictures in week02 | |
| 09/19/2001 | mem | Zara | Today was my second day back to work since Zara's birth. It's a little bit odd to be away from the house, and it's a joy to come home to her and Zoe. I posted some pics from week02. Not a ton, although we have like 100 while we tried to take a nice picture and she kept moving. | |
| 09/18/2001 | mem | www | Just fiddling around trying to make things a bit more friendly here at masino.com. Instead of having all the previous entries load on the front page, it now defaults to just displaying 20 posts at a time. Or, you can choose to see all the postings. | |
| 09/16/2001 | mem | Zara | As we enter week 2, we've all adjusted to having a new baby in the house. The cats have been great. Setzer/Noodle follows us into every room and sits near the baby if she fusses. Scrappy pretty much ignores her and carries on with life as usual. I snapped a few pictures of him snoozing (1, 2, and 3) with Zoe in the study. | |
| 09/15/2001 | mem | Zara | Zara celebrates her 1 week birthday today. In some ways I can't believe it's been a week. In others it seems like it has been much longer. I've posted a bunch more pictures under Week01. Most of the names are not very imaginative (hey, you run out of synonyms for sleepy pretty quickly) | |
| 09/14/2001 | mem | Zara | Zara had her first visit to the pediatrician today. Just a routine checkup to make sure she's doing well. The doctor said shes a strong baby and every looked good. We just need to work on putting some more pounds on her since she's over 2 weeks behind all the other babies who where born at term... | |
| 09/14/2001 | mem | Zara | We're a bit tired here with a newborn, but I can't believe I was so tired that I tried to sterilize some things in a microwave sterilizer and at the last minute decided to throw in the bottle-brush and a bottle cap - both metal. Hmm, maybe that's what that funny smell was soon after. I took a picture of the damage, but let's say there was some melting and probably would have been flames in a couple seconds longer. The house stunk and I had to open up lots of windows and air the house out. Luckily the sterilizer was almost sealed and most of the smoke/steam stayed in it when I threw it out the door. Here are the pictures ( Sterilizer1 and Sterlizer2 ) | |
| 09/13/2001 | mem | Zara | Who says taking care of a newborn is hard? We had time to cook chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner tonight. Well, maybe all we had to do was throw it in the oven for 50 minutes - thanks to Sue who sent us something like 15 pounds of easily cooked meat and a bunch of cold cuts. | |
| 09/13/2001 | mem | Zara | Ok, have two hands for a quick bit. Managed to post some more pictures from Zara's first week. Oh, and I moved around some pictures - primarily moved Zara's birth pictures under a common directory with the new pics. The old directory is left in case people have bookmarks. | |
| 09/12/2001 | mem | www | Thank goodness I managed to catch up on Slashdot. I saw mention that AT&T Broadband has lifted its wholesale filtering of port 80. You should now be able to get to masino.com directly rather than through redirection. You might get redirected for a little while until any DNS caches expire, but please let me know if it continues beyond today (or if you have any difficulty) | |
| 09/12/2001 | mem | Zara | Just sitting here with Zara while both she and Zoe nap. Figured I'd work on my one-handed typing (left no less). Honestly not that difficult (though a pain when you make a mistake). Everyone is doing well. We had a visit from the visiting nurse yesterday morning and Zara has gained 3 ounces - now 5 lbs 6 ounces (like all babies she lost some weight between birth and going home). We have our first pediatric appointment on Friday to make sure she's doing fine. That's all for now... | |
| 09/11/2001 | mem | www | Zoe's friend Amy pointed out that I posted the news about Zara's birth as occurring on the 9th instead of the 8th. Duh! Just shows that we are not quite adjusted to this new life... | |
| 09/11/2001 | mem | Zara | Everything is going great at home. Not a lot of time for much more than feedings and trying to get life a bit organized. Thanks to Vicky and Bill for posting some great pictures. I hope they don't mind that I stole them to post on masino.com (though credit is given). They can be found in a sub-directory under Zara/Birth. I even stole one for the picture on the front page... | |
| 09/10/2001 | mem | www | Just happened to notice that this is the 1-year anniversary of posting to masino.com. We are now adjusting to life with a little baby, so it may be a while before time is found to update things. I did post the rest of the pictures from Zara's Birth | |
| 09/10/2001 | mem | Zara | In a rush, but some pics of Boos Birth | |
| 09/08/2001 | mem | Boo | Baby Boo (now officially named Zara Anne Masino) was brought into this world at 4:41 PM today. Weighing in at 5 lbs, 9 ounces and measuring 17.5 inches, a beautiful baby girl was brought into this world by her loving, beautiful mum. I cannot express how proud of her I am. She got her wish for a drug-free (well, pain-drug free - the Pitosin and antibiotics don't count) and she's never looked healthier or happier than just after giving birth. You'd never know how hard she worked to look at her. | |
| 09/06/2001 | mem | Boo | Well, I finally got around to writing the story of where the nickname Boo came from. I added it to the top of our previous announcement of Boo's impending birth. | |
| 09/03/2001 | mem | Boo | A lot of love and hard work went into making a cozy nursery for Boo (due any day now). From the first twinkle in Zoe's eye, she set to work making it happen. We painted (I did the easy work, she did all the stenciling of the clouds and moons). We got new carpet (thus also blood, sweat and tears). Zoe was ambitious as always, and made shears and curtains for the windows, as well as a comforter for the crib. All the furniture was courtesy of Rosemary - 20 years and three boys later, it still looks like brand new. Gifts from everyone fill the room, so one can see that Boo is already loved by many. Now all Zoe has left to do is make a crib-bumper set and glider and ottoman covers. Hmmm, maybe we'll have to take the sewing machine with us to the hospital. | |
| 09/03/2001 | mem | House | Well, I finally got a chance to finish the rest of the carpet story. I already posted Day 1 previously, and here are Days 2-4, and Day 5 (which is really 5 and 6, but who cares). The new carpet looks (and feels) very nice. Now I just have to forget the pain and suffering I underwent removing the old carpet. I could be in therapy for hours...2 | |
| 09/02/2001 | mem | Friends | Andy and Lisa got married this evening. Congratulations to both. They had a very nice ceremony out at a gazebo, and then inside for the reception. They are driving to Florida for their honeymoon. Have fun! Pictures have been posted here. Unfortunately, the one time I do not bring spare batteries, they die on the digital camera (from taking all those carpet pictures without a recharge). Luckily, Zoe brought along her camera, so we can post some more after they get developed. There may even be photo-graphical evidence of the vandals who had some fun with Andy's car. | |
| 09/01/2001 | mem | Boo | September, but we're supposed to be having a baby in September. Surely it can't be here already! | |
| 08/30/2001 | mem | House | There is the beginnings a day-by-day description of the removal and installation of carpets in our upstairs. We did the removal ourselves, and it was a bit more work than we thought it would be. All that I've done so far is Day 1 - Small Bedrooms, but there are already pictures for Day2-4 - Hallway and Stairs and Day 5 - New Carpet Installed | |
| 08/30/2001 | mem | Boo | Eric and Sharon were nice enough to make us a CD of pictures from Zoe's baby shower. I finally got a chance to put copies of those photos up and they can be seen here. You can view all the baby shower pics by starting here, where you can then follow the link for Sharon and Eric's pictures | |
| 08/25/2001 | mem | Friends | Nine of us trekked on down to Foxwoods for Andy's bachelor party. Rob was the big winner (winning something like $235 on one spin of the roulette wheel). Gil followed up with a $125 pot from the slots. I was up about $45 until I decided to live a little and hit the roulette again where I lost $35 of it. So, I came home with $10 less than I left home with - it essentially cost me $10 for an entire evening of entertainment plus dinner for Andy and I. Not too bad. We won't talk about the rest of the gang's outcomes for the evening. So Rob bought us all breakfast at IHOP at 3AM (for which I am still suffering). I think I've already gone through that $10 I won in toilet paper... | |
| 08/25/2001 | mem | Work | All those who missed Bob's 5th Annual "Costume" Pool Party will be sorely disappointed that they missed Shawn's entrance in costume! Many apologies to Jen (Shawn's girlfriend). It was only a bit of hazing for a new guy, and she got caught up in it. They were both good sports (but she'd have to be to be Shawn's girlfriend after all). A great time was had by all. Zoe and I were sad to have to skip out early, but I had a bachelor party to go to... The day flew by and so I only took a few pictures | |
| 08/25/2001 | mem | Friends | Ok, we've been a little lax in getting pictures posted. Zoe just pointed out that we had forgotten to post pictures from the 2001 Summer Party. Well, there are a few now for your viewing pleasure... | |
| 08/24/2001 | mem | Work | Today we had the annual G042 picnic and, as usual, it was a blast. Way too much food (all of it good), kids running around, volleyball, and ballon animals for all. Many thanks to Mark and Dianne for hosting this fun-filled event yet again... Complete set of pictures are here. | |
| 08/19/2001 | mem | Friends | Just wanted to mention that two more friends have gotten online recently. Eric and Sharon and Gil. Thought I'd spread the word to those who did not know as of yet... And much thanks to Sharon and Eric for the CD full of wonderful pictures from Zoe's baby shower. | |
| 08/19/2001 | mem | www | Based on my latest calculation, I believe I was 1 day (extra) off on the Boo countdown. The days are already flying by, but now 2 at once! | |
| 08/19/2001 | mem | House | I don't want to jinx it, but we now have a 100% working stove. Of all the half-assed attempts to fix the darn door springs (attach part of a new spring, replace with new ones, etc), I did not think to simply bend back the last coil on the spring where it broke. But everything seems to work now... so something else on it is sure to break any time soon. | |
| 08/19/2001 | mem | www | Ok, so I screwed up the configuration of the URL forwarding (helps to point the URL back to the actual web server), but luckily they make it really easy to make instantaneous changes. Of course, now any links (or bookmarks) which were pointing to www.masino.com:8080 will no longer work... Hopefully people will fall back to just www.masino.com when it doesn't work. | |
| 08/17/2001 | mem | www | I think people should be able to get here via www.masino.com, and not have to include port 80. I happened to notice that www.worldwidedns.net (our DNS provider) also includes URL redirection for $10 a year. Of course, it's hard to test on your own LAN. I used to use www.anonymizer.net, but they no longer allow me to do so (not sure why)... If someone could send me email confirming that this works, I would very much appreciate it! | |
| 08/10/2001 | mem | www | Ok, so if you are reading this you likely already know, but AT&T Broadband has decided to filter port 80 to try and curtail the Code Red Virus. Never mind that it doesn't affect machines unless they are running NT or Win2k and IIS, and that some people might actually want to run a web server at home. So, for the moment you can only get to masino.com via port 8080, which some browsers will try if 80 does not answer. I will keep the server running on 8080 (and 80 and 8081) as a backup even when/if they stop filtering. So, if people ask how to get here, just type in http://www.masino.com:8080 if you browser doesn't automatically take you there by default. | |
| 08/06/2001 | mem | House | It suddenly seems like there is not a lot of time left - luckily we have actually started to get the nursery-to-be in order. Two coats of paint and carpet selected. Forgot to take pictures to show before and after, so maybe we'll just have the after in a while... | |
| 08/01/2001 | mem | Boo | Oh my gosh, August already? That means we're going to be parents next month. What a thrilling/frightening idea. It's hard to believe it's almost here already. | |
| 07/29/2001 | mem | Boo | Thank you to everyone who came to Zoe's surprise baby shower. Zoe and I had a wonderful time, and I think it was a really nice surprise for Zoe. Special thanks to Vicky for all the planning and subterfuge (and setup, use of home, cleanup, etc. ). Here are some of the better pictures. | |
| 07/24/2001 | mem | Friends | My good friend Scott (whom I met at RPI all those years ago) is in the area and we're going to actually get a chance to visit for a bit. I just ran across a couple pictures from our graduation | |
| 07/20/2001 | mem | www | There is now simple page with email addresses so people can contact us. Zoe found a website which puts old friends in touch with one another and knew a couple of people. Then she pointed out that technically no one would know how to email us from looking at masino.com. | |
| 07/18/2001 | mem | www | You can now view the logs for masino.com. I found it fascinating to pore through all the statistics and breakdown of who is looking at what. | |
| 07/15/2001 | mem | Friends | The MA girls get together at last after a year of being friends only via a message board! It was great to finally meet you all but it would have been even nicer if the whole group could have met - one day. Here are the pictures in case you are interested. | |
| 07/11/2001 | mem | World | Someone out there must have been listening to me complaining about the current distribution method for books/CD's/etc and has decided to create The PerfectBook Machine. I thought it would make sense for CD's and books to be printed on demand rather than printing thousands to sit on warehouse shelves and possibly never be wanted. Maybe this will actually become a reality. For CD's it's even easier - with a CD burner Newbury Comics could churn out a CD on demand (but we know the RIAA is not to hip to the idea of not controlling every aspect of CD production/sale). | |
| 07/04/2001 | mem | Holiday | Happy 4th of July! We were going to check out the local fireworks in Tewksbury as per usual, but just didn't end up making it this year. Next year we'll have a little one in tow, who will undoubtedly be frightened by the loud noises... | |
| 07/01/2001 | mem | Weather | What a wild weekend of weather! We've endured two power outages from the violent thunderstorms in the area. Quite a bit of lightning nearby and torrential rains off and on. | |
| 07/01/2001 | mem | www | Found an obscure bug in the pics page in a case which did not exist (nested directories). Made that change and some cleanup, so let me know if anyone sees any problems with picture viewing... | |
| 06/28/2001 | mem | Pets | We took a couple pictures the other day of Scrappy after he had been out in the rain all day. It's amazing what a scrawny rat he looks like when soaking (here and here ) | |
| 06/25/2001 | mem | Friends | We picked up Amy from the commuter rail tonight to visit before she flies back home tomorrow to LA. She says hi to everyone... | |
| 06/24/2001 | mem | Family | We stopped by North Hampton on the way back home to visit Nancy in her new (but very temporary) apartment | |
| 06/22/2001 | mem | Friends | Happy Birthday Rob! The big 27 - it's all downhill from here... | |
| 06/22/2001 | mem | Family | A huge congratulations to Amy and Ryan who are now officially Mother and child. For years Ryan has been Amy's son, and today they it is legally binding and no one can take him away. Rosemary and Amy threw a huge party in celebration | |
| 06/13/2001 | mem | www | I wasn't happy with my previously added idea, so I whipped up another one - the Skin Pocket | |
| 06/13/2001 | mem | Work | Well, it's been a week and a half back at Mitre and I think I've done more than in the past year. I've gone from having to find things to keep busy to having to choose from amongst a dozen things I'd like to help with. Man do the days go by fast when you're actually busy! | |
| 06/13/2001 | mem | www | Due to popular demand, I have posted another idea - the Kayak Snorkel. This one is not one of my best, but it'll have to tide people over till I get some free time! | |
| 06/11/2001 | mem | House | Had some fun over the weekend digging up our septic tank to be pumped. The darn thing is 42 inches below ground, so I felt like I was digging a grave (hmm, one way to get rid of an irritating dog...) | |
| 06/10/2001 | mem | www | Knock on wood, but it does appear that the fourth router I bought actually works. It's been quite an ordeal to get one that worked (as described here | |
| 06/03/2001 | mem | Boo | Ok, we finally had to come clean with a little announcement. | |
| 06/03/2001 | mem | Vacation | Well, we just got back from out cruise to Bermuda. Haven't had time to put anything up except for some pictures. More info and pictures to follow... | |
| 05/23/2001 | mem | Games | Today two soon-to-be-ex co-workers (Clint and Tom) took me out to lunch at the Border. Later Clint introduced us to a game called The Settlers of Catan. A truly excellent boardgame that shows exceptional design. I highly recommend it to anyone... | |
| 05/21/2001 | mem | Family | Well, we closed on my mom's house today. Kinda sad that now when we drive down Pine Grove Dr it will be visiting the "old neighborhood" rather than home. But, it will be nice to be free of the bills/worries of a second house - one is enough! | |
| 05/20/2001 | mem | www | Maybe (just maybe) fourth time is a charm... I swapped that pesky Linksys one more time and it's looking like this one might actually work! | |
| 05/18/2001 | mem | Work | Ok, forgot to post last week that I finally gave my notice in to Openwave. Oddly enough, I am going back from whence I came - to Mitre. I miss the old crew. | |
| 05/17/2001 | mem | Family | Happy Birthday Mom! She would have been 59 today. | |
| 05/16/2001 | mem | House | Ok, I don't mean to overdose on Kitchen stuff, but I moved the summary out of Day 3 to its own page so I could add a section on cost (tools and material). | |
| 05/14/2001 | mem | Family | We held a grave side memorial service for our mother today. It was very nice to hear all the things people had to say about what they miss the most about her. We could not have asked for a nicer day - sunny yet cool and breezy, to remember her. A big thank you to the Galts for holding a luncheon afterward for everybody, it was nice to get a chance to visit with friends and family to celebrate our mother's life. | |
| 05/11/2001 | mem | House | Finally finished Day 3 account of replacing our kitchen floor with Pergo. The entire account is here | |
| 05/11/2001 | mem | www | Replaced cgi/tcl script "viewpics" with php page. If anyone sees anything odd with viewing pictures, please let me know. I have not added error reporting to the php page (one nice thing the script did) yet. | |
| 05/10/2001 | mem | Friends | Didn't realize that we had some pictures from James' birthday party last Sunday. They are now available. | |
| 05/10/2001 | mem | Family | Zoe's parents leave today to head back to England. It's been nice to see them over the past two weeks. Thanks again to Dave for helping with the kitchen floor! | |
| 05/10/2001 | mem | Family | Posted pictures from Zoe and her parent's visit to Stoneover and updated previous entry to point to them as well | |
| 05/07/2001 | mem | House | I finally got a chance to add to the description of installing the kitchen floor. Days 1 and 2 are done, with just Day 3 (which was actually more like 3/4 of a day spread out over 2) | |
| 05/06/2001 | mem | Friends | I caught a ride with Rob and Amy to Bill and Vicky's to meet up with Zoe and her parents and celebrate James' first birthday. He was a bit overwhelmed with all the attention | |
| 05/05/2001 | mem | www | Returned my Linksys for a third one which still doesn't work!!!. In fact, this one worked the least of the three I have had. What gives? | |
| 05/04/2001 | mem | Family | Zoe and her parents headed back to Lenox to visit Rosemary and Amy and the kids. Meanwhile, I was left to my own devices looking after Maggie. Not that I did anything too exciting, but I did have dinner with Rob and Amy and do some yard work. Here are some pictures | |
| 05/02/2001 | mem | Family | Happy Birthday Zoe! Happy Birthday James! Unfortunately, Zoe's dad woke up with a migraine, so we had to delay going out for her Birthday. But we did go to the Emerald Rose the next day. | |
| 04/30/2001 | mem | House | Began Kitchen renovations with Zoe's dad. Have not had time to write everything up nicely yet, but some of the pictures are available | |
| 04/29/2001 | mem | Outings | Took Zoe's parents to a Red Sox game. We left during the 7th inning stretch and missed them catch up big-time, only to lose in extra innings | |
| 04/25/2001 | mem | www | Well, struck out with the Linksys for now. Had to swap if for a new one... which still doesn't seem to work! | |
| 04/26/2001 | mem | Family | Zoe's parents arrived safely (though delayed) tonight. They are here for 2 weeks. | |
| 04/20/2001 | mem | www | Busy day/month at masino.com. Reworked a whole bunch of stuff using PHP, now that I've had a chance to play around with it (better late than never). Let me know if anything seems broken | |
| 04/20/2001 | mem | www | Flash animation is the most overused web-technology, almost never for a reasonable purpose. I rarely see a legitimate use for it. I now know of 2 exceptions, www.howstuffworks.com and this animation | |
| 04/20/2001 | mem | www | I decided to take a load off the masino.com server and ordered some new hardware | |
| 04/19/2001 | mem | Pets | A certain puppy dog went for a grooming yesterday. Pics to follow soon. | |
| 04/18/2001 | mem | www | I finally added a link to my ideas page. Just a couple of ideas I've had over the years - make sure to read the disclaimer... | |
| 04/15/2001 | mem | Holiday | Happy Easter to all! We had a bunch of people over for an Easter brunch and what turned out to be a full-contact Egg Hunt. | |
| 04/11/2001 | mem | Family | Nancy had her wisdom teeth out today. Oh boy, what fun! | |
| 04/10/2001 | mem | Holiday | Hopefully the good weather will hold out for Easter. We're having some friends over for a big Easter Egg Hunt. | |
| 04/09/2001 | mem | Weather | Perhaps spring has actually arrived. Today was a beautiful day - in the 60's! Of course, still plenty of snow to melt. | |
| 04/06/2001 | mem | Family | For the second time, Zoe and I attended a Coffee House that Nancy had a large part in putting together for work | |
| 03/31/2001 | mem | Friends | Congratulations to Rob and Amy on their very effective April Fools Engagement. They had every detail worked out. | |
| 03/24/2001 | mem | Family | Well, Liam and Carly headed back home today. The last 10 days seemed to have flown past | |
| 03/17/2001 | mem | Friends | Happy St. Patrick's Day! We celebrated Vicky's 30 Birthday while Liam and Carly headed into Boston | |
